Room request for VWL studio?

Close to elevator. The infamous dumpster views are at the end of the hall.

Any suggestions for room request? This will be my first stay at VWL and so lucky to get 4 nights in Dec.

Out of curiosity, when did you book? We were on a wait list for 5 nights in a studio at VWL and recently switched to BLT lakeview thinking we may have a better shot at getting in. Congrats on your reso-have always wanted to stay during Xmas there!

Since there are 4 dedicated studios at the end of each floor, a dumpster view is very likely. That's been our experience. We have probably gotten the last or next to last studio room 8 out of 10 VWL studio stays.:crazy2:

110 views, and not one answer? :confused3
Some times, it just takes a few days when folks are too busy to answer right away. For example, I cleaned Thursday in expectation of a guest, then cooked, ate, and talked the night away. Had to work yesterday and had a high school football playoff game to attend last night. ;) On to your question. . .

The view at VWL is of trees. . .and more trees. That being said, it is one of the quietest, most serene resorts on property. I would suggest requesting a room on the lake side near the elevators. Lake side might afford you glimpses of the lake, and near the elevators not only keeps you away from the dumpster view but might get you close enough to the Hidden Springs pool area to have a view of it. Good luck and enjoy the Lodge.

We have a handicapped accessible room booked for January. Anybody know where that is? I requested near elevator.

Do you have a studio booked? We stayed in a HA studio there (didn't ask for or need it), but it was about half way or further down the hall from the elevator.

I have had one in that General area.

Yes it's a studio. Halfway down the hall sounds good. Doesn't sound like dumpster view.

I got 12/15 on 8.21.14 by checking resort availability tool. I got 12/13 on 8.26.14 by resort availability tool. Then I waitlisted 12/14 and 12/16, but still kept checking resort availability tool most days. Waitlist for 12/16 came through on 9.08.14. Then waitlist for 12/14 came through on 9.23.14.
I have had a lot of luck with one day waitlists.

If you are waitlisting 5 nights altogether, I think your chances are much slimmer. If you can piece it together one night at a time, it seems easier to get.

hi we tried on line check in last time we went and we loved our room ,ground floor with a patio facing the lodge we could walk out the side door and we were just a few steps away from the lodge,it was surrounded by bushes etc so it was private we requested ground floor again for our up coming trip

Might be a rookie question, but since I am a newbie I think it's ok. When one wait lists extra nights and they come through, do you get to stay in the same room, or do you have to move around?

If the waitlist comes through, you should have MS modify the reservation to include the new dates. No moving required.

Thanks Disneynutz. I would hate to have not known to have ms modify the res and had to move around during a stay.
:)
