Room request because of an ECV

I am currently booked at Pop Century. Can I just call within the 10 days prior to my visit and let them know I will have an ECV with me and need a ground floor room or should I call now and add that to my reservation information?

I did try calling a couple of days ago and after a 20 minute wait finally spoke to someone and was told the system was down and they couldn't add that info to my reservation.

Which would be better? Call now or wait for the 10 day window prior to checking in?

Thanks.

Is the ECV the only reason that you want a ground floor room?

I ask because I have done Pop in several types of ECVs and have had no problems with rooms above the ground floor. There is no need to worry about needing a ground floor room. I am not sure that they will guarantee that just because of the ECV.

I think that there is a special needs department that you can call and have them add it to your reservation if you feel strongly that you must be on the ground floor. The number is probably in the FAQ thread.

The Special Needs Department normally does not get involved in easy to fill requests like ground floor location. They are normally used for things where some special preparation of the room is needed or where a special type of room is needed. When people have called in the past for things like floor requests, this is the information they were told.

I would call the number you called to make your reservation in the first place. Tell them it is a request for Medical Needs - they generally fill those requests before filling other general requests for the same thing. You have a god chance of getting first floor even without a request.
A lot of people request higher floors because they like the view or prefer to have no one above them. If you get there and fond you were assigned a higher floor, you can request that your room assignment be changed to First floor if you want. And, If you find you are assigned a different floor and choose to stay with the assignment, there are elevators and you should have no problem as was posted.

Okay, not to worry. I realize now that Pop has elevators. For some reason I was thinking it only had stairs. Since it does have elevators it doesn't matter what floor I am on.

I thought Pop only had stairs but after searching I see Pop has elevators. So no worries.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks for clearing that up Sue. I didn't realize that. That's what I get for trying to be helpful as I am running out the door and don't have time to research before I answer.

OP, you will be fine. One of the things that I like about the Values over the other hotels I have stayed in (not necessarily Disney) is that they doors are "angled" to the outside passageway, so you aren't trying to make a 180 turn in a small hall to get into your room. It is very easy to just go straight in.

And as I recall there is only one resort without elevators and is at Port Orleans. Can't remember which part/ building it is though.

Have a great time at Pop and take the time to tour all around outside. The large icons are really fun!

Don't worry, I've done that too.

It's Port Orleans Riverside in Alligator Bayou. The Mansions area does have elevators.

Also, OKW does not have elevators except in the last few buildings built (numbered in the 60s).

Wow! I didn't realize that so many of them didn't have elevators! POR was the only that I had read that about. I need to make sure I remember that. I don't ever mention that I use an ECV and just figure that there won't be a problem-- I probably wouldn't even have bothered to check on that. I just assume that a multi level resort/hotel would have an elevator in this day and age. CBR is one of the resorts that I have considered trying.
