Room Request at BCV for DD6 who has broken leg?

Just found out today that my 6 yr old daughter will be in a leg cast while we're in WDW this month. We thought she was going to get a removeable boot today, but her bones just aren't healed enough. With that being the case, I want to try to minimize long walks in the hotel if at all possible. We're staying at BCV which I know is notorious for long hallways / walks to the elevators.

Sooooo, now I need to make a room request taking that into account. I know I want something either close to the elevators or on the ground floor, but do I also want to request something close to BC so we're close to amenities of the resort (and bus stops and boat docks)? We're new to this resort, so I'm not sure what to ask for. Anyone?

Not sure on room location, but I would request a ground floor. No sense messing with the elevators if you don't have to, and we found the ones at the Beach Club to be a little iffy.

The villas aren't really close to the boat dock. In fact, it is closer to walk to Epcot than get the boat. The boat docks at YC, so you will have a bit of a hike to the boat to get to Disney Hollywood Studios.

There are two elevator banks at BCV, one that exits in the main lobby and one that exits closer to the parking lot.

Have you considered a wheelchair for your daughter? All the walks around WDW are long, especially if you are having a tough time walking.

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is information about renting special needs strollers. Those are like giant umbrella strollers and would be better for a 6 yr old than an adult wheelchair. There is also contact information about renting wheelchairs from off-site places; the wheelchairs you can rent in the parks or get from the resorts are adult size and would not be that comfortable for a child.
You could also check into renting a child size wheelchair from your home area and bring it with you. If you are flying, you can gate check it or might be able to bring it aboard the cabin if the airplane has a big enough closet. A wheelchair doesn't count against your baggage or carry on allowance. The doctor's office might know where you can rent one in your area.
