Room Rehab at Saratoga Springs

It shouldn't be that hard.

I thought the idea of a "hidden Mickey" was to not smack you in the face with it.

I much prefer the subtle touches. Deluxe resorts don't need cartooney imagery. Even the artwork at BLT is a little off-putting to me.

Have to see how this plays-out. Pillows look a little silly IMO.

Whats a girl got to do around here to get a duvet??!! I can't believe they are refurbishing the resort rooms, but still using bedspreads. Who green-lit that bonehead idea? :confused3

Count me in the camp of wanting them to keep the animated characters out of at least some of the resorts! My dad loves WDW lots but also likes his resort to be less "in your face Disney." Saratoga is one of his favorites because of its more subdued design elements.

Also, count me in the camp of wanting a duvet! Enough with the hideous bedspreads!

In all seriousness, Disney has lots of great horse heroes, and they could highlight "real life" versions of each for the decor (like in the last picture.

My husband and I were just discussing the SSR refurb this afternoon. I told him of the new plans and his was so excited. He thinks it's a GREAT idea! I disagreed with him. I love that SSR isn't cartoony. I figure it's good for those who feel SSR isn't "disney" enough. I love the decor just as it is now. The master bedroom is so pretty. The interior decor really means a lot to me lol. Oh well... we'll just have to see when it's all said and done...hopefully they do a really tasteful job and keep it feeling "upscale".

I loveMaximus he makes me laugh. He is the best character in the movie IMO I thought the pillows were cute and it's just a few pillows again IMO but I do understand the other side too it. Now if they added jungle book to my okw home I would be upset

I'm glad they didn't go with duvets. Every hotel I have stayed in that had duvets didn't have a blanket on the bed and you had to use the duvet as a cover if you were cold. Otherwise all you had was a sheet. And every darn duvet I've had in hotels was so darned heavy. Like having an elephant lying on top of you.

LOL you and my spouse. Ask for a blanket, they will give you one. The duvets at the Yacht Club were not that heavy and our room had a duvet and a very nice blanket too.

I was hoping for something similar to the ones at Yacht and Beach resort rooms.

I love horses but I would rather they have real equestrian pillows instead of Maximus, even though I thought he was really funny in the movies.

I know its hard to please everyone and those with young kids will probably love it. I guess too Fox and Hound is one of my least favorite Disney movies.

Me too, I would love to have a house decorated in SSR decor, but not this new stuff. The pillows actually I am ok with, I can turn them over but the bedspreads have me concerned.

As long as they don't muck up the resort theme like they did with the OKW refurb.

Hubby and I were excited when we read it, so hopefully they do it in a tasteful way.

I think based on the pillow patterns shown, it could fit in nicely.

Hubby and I are always commenting how Disney seems to miss the mark sometimes with theming and not using their characters enough, yet some on here think they use them too much. Can't please everyone! LOL!

Will wait to see what the finished product looks like, Tiger :)

OK - I am confused here, and I hope I come across asking in the sincere way I feel.

Why are duvets better/worse than bedspreads? Even a worse question - is a duvet just a bed cover that does not go over the pillows?

And, again, not to be argumentative, but I thought the OKW refurb was lovely.

The horse pillows, however, may tie with us for ickiest theming along with the Barfing Clown at Boardwalk. Also, his hair always reminds us of speghettios...

The duvets cover a comforter, the duvet cover can be washed on a regular even daily basis. The bedspreads can't and are not washed regularly.

Yuck. I always pull off the bedspreads, but I still hoped the bed spreads were washed...

Emphasis on the fact that duvets "can" be washed regularly. Chances are they are not.

I have to assume this was a dues-driven decision. Duvets mean more labor (removal, replacement), more laundering expense and certainly are not as durable as the rigid bedspreads. By my count, SSR has well over 2000 beds. That's a lotta duvets to handle, clean and replace regularly.

Overall duvets do seem nicer but if the decision was a no-brainer, I have to assume Disney would have gone that route. Might be time to add a nice blanket to our Owner's Locker. :)

We haven't received our Disney Files yet, but I can hardly wait now because I desperately want to see these horse pillows you are chatting about!

I'll maybe put in a request for a rehabbed villa for when we go "home" next month just so I can see them! :)

I travel with my own blanket aka Linus, :goodvibes but I like the look of duvets better than the bedspreads.

However the new spreads and such are not a deal breaker for us and I imagine TJ is right that duvets are more expensive.

It will be interesting to see more photos. I hope the drapes and carpet are nice though.

I'm not too crazy about this idea...But I guess I'll have to reserve judgement for when I see it in person..I love that SSR feel a bit more adult, maybe a bit more upscale? KWIM? I don't really want characters incorporated into the decor. But if it's subtle, I guess it'll be ok.:confused3

I understand the concern, but I think SSR can use more of a Disney touch. When we've stayed there I didn't feel like we were on property.

This is the exact reason we bought our first contract at OKW... it was the most UN-Disney resort, in our opinion. At the end of the day, we look forward to escaping the chaos.:hippie:
