Room ready changed…

...and that's sort of what I meant by the Easter Sunday thing. Over the course of what is probably pushing 20 check-ins at this point, I am not sure I've ever had a villa be late (as in, after 4). Maybe once? But even that must not have been that bad, because I don't remember it.

I have only had 2 stays in FL on DVC and one was ready at 6pm. Aulani I had 2 stays and they were both by 4 but not early by any means. DLR properties Ive had 3 stays and were all ready before 4.

Want to add I think CA is better at room ready because VGC is small and attached to a hotel and VDH is ran with a high amount of cash stays at this point, people paying cash aren't made to wait past 4 or even 3 for that matter. Same goes for Aulani lots of cash stays. So I think its cash gets more staffing and you dont want to piss off a cash customer, but DVC they can get mad about it since its a timeshare they need to accept it

People love to give Disney a pass on the negative things in this timeshare I have come to notice.
 
Man I guess. But life is too short to get upset about when I get the room. At least, mine is. I’m already on borrowed time as it is.
If you are out and about doing things it's no big deal and the time you want to check in can be notated when you check in online. But there are times when you really need your room to be ready on time. For instance when my daughter needed to nurse my granddaughter and get her settled in after a long day of travel. It's frustrating in these instances when you don't have a room you are already paying for.

This was us checking in this week, I had two littles in desperate need of a nap. Our room was ready at 330. Not terrible but ugh anyone who has lugged around two tiny over tired humans knows the struggle. Just once I’d like to be the family who gets the noon check in 😂
 
I guess we got lucky on our Feb RIV stay...was granted a late checkout (standard studio). It helped tremendously, as my wife ran the half-marathon that day and gave her a little extra time to get ready. I think they pushed our check out time to 2pm which lined up well with our 6pm flight.
Wow!! They’ve always told us that dvc does not have late check out period. Were you staying on cash maybe?

Every time ive asked they've always put me on hold to check with housekeeping and then its always a No. VGF even told me I'd better have called a bellman half an hour before 11 am or I would get no bell service to our car and if we're past 11 am waiting for bell service we would be charged an extra night. Never have experience more rude "service" at a DVC resort 🙄

Yeah VGF has a lot of making up to do for me and my family, we are staying there in July and if it is likewise sub-par as our January trip, we will be selling that contract.

Please let us know how it is, I was planning to book February on the og side to see if it's any different, but I know we felt the exact same as you so if it's like that again we will not be staying there
 
Devils advocate here... If we push up room-ready to ... let's say 2 pm (for the sake of argument) If (big if) every, single, check out happens before 11 am that leaves 3 hours for staff to turn over rooms and villas. So let's say we have Nascar type mouse-keepers and they can flip and burn through their alloted rooms. But then we'll get a thousand posts about how "the rooms aren't white-glove" clean. A really messy family can trash some of the villas. Imagine if the staff has to clean the oven, microwave, fridge if people were truly sloppy. How about walking into a sink full of dishes on top of the mop/sweep/bath/bedding. Also add in wildly specific room/location requests. I wonder if we took a poll to find out if people had very specific requests, what were those wait times. What is the realistic expectation? Hire more? Up the dues? It's like running on a hamster wheel.

Hotels turn things around just fine.. but I hear the reasoning behind that from people. Maybe they dont need to run full cycle oven cleans? Cant imagine every family is using this kitchen to cook as if they were at home. Also, I am willing to bet a vast majority of people check out before 11am and just dont remember to click check out in the app which one would assume can slow down the turn over.

Well I don't think I posted this before because I hate completely trashing a resort but this is the truth so here goes. Whoever is running that hotel is failing miserably it seems. We have a family member that is in a wheelchair and she ordered a piece of luggage be sent to her from Amazon because she bought more merchandise than anticipated.

The luggage was delivered and apparently they couldn't find it. Then they finally located it and she asked them, in her wheelchair, which they could see she was in, if they could please deliver it.

They flat out said no because they were "too busy" that day (MLK weekend) she told them she is in a wheelchair and cant physically carry the heavy piece of luggage herself, obviously.

The front lobby proceeded to tell her "Can't you just have someone come to the lobby and help you bring it to your room?"

It was my birthday party, which yes out of all resorts I chose to celebrate it at the Grand Floridian because it was the Grand Floridian after all and was supposed to be the crown jewel, and my wife and I were setting up and decorating the room before a vendor and extended family came in so we were very busy. She told them look you can deliver it at any time it doesn't matter to me i just need bell services to deliver it at some point before our flights leaves tomorrow. The front desk cast member said she could request it, but it wasn't a guarantee. SERIOUSLY ***.

She came back super embarrassed and ashamed to ask us for help, which of course is in no way her fault and nothing to be ashamed of. I walked my a$$ to the lobby and they pushed it to me in a big cardboard box. How the hell am I supposed to drag this all the way to the room?? Im like Um can you give me something to open this I cannot physically drag this huge cardboard box or carry it allthe way to the room???

A manager comes back and I expect her to apologize for everything and call bell services Or tell us theyll come later. Nope, she opens it with a pair of scissors and expects us to be on our way. I just was blown away. This was one of the many many rude encounters we had here and I sincerely HOPE this is not the norm, but the thought of going back there seriously makes me upset. Every other hotel we stayed at bell services and the cast members were fantastic and accommodating to guests with disabilities and i just couldnt believe it. /endrant

The thing is we usually check out about 7am because we need to get on the road. And there are never any housekeeping staff around. I don’t think they start until 11 at most resorts.

Housekeeping cms are usually in the hallways by about 9am at Boardwalk Villas. Can't really speak for other WDW resorts as I haven't paid much attention.

Often I've been on split stays or switching room types. This is over 25 years of owning and 1st DVC visit in 1997.

In the earlier days I've had a few times where I didn't get my room until after 4pm. That was almost consistent at AKV unless staying concierge level. I had one particularly late at BWV where it was about 9pm. I didn't arrive until after 8pm and that was before our ability to indicate arrival time and before we got room ready texts.

I've had one instance where I arrived near 4 at BCV got room ready about the same time and couldn't get in the room until 5 because the door wouldn't open. Bad battery was the cause but it took forever to get this resolved. Once maintenance were called, they had it fixed in minutes, but the runaround was the desk - go back and try this key, assuming my magic band was the problem. I had already tried phone and band, plus an in the hall cm had tried as well. So direct to room was a farce. I accepted a small compensation on this, offered not requested as I was soooo frustrated.

Another time at BCV before texts I was left to sit for an hour past the time the room was ready, when a different CM says, 'oh, that room was ready at 3:05'. Had arrived at 3, room not ready, checked back at 3:30, 'not ready', after 4, new CM.

A couple of times I've waited longer to get my choice of area.

And when it was all important, on Feb 23, 2025, I got a 2 bedroom BW view at 1:31pm. My guests were out shopping for important stuff like wine, beer and snacks plus assorted breakfast items and fruit and cheese. They got back about 2ish and straight to the room! BWV made me look so good as their host!

I’m curious to know how many folks were being hosted in what size villa & what sort of vendor one would use, & whether lots of packages had already arrived.
I’ve always been fortunate during my GF stays & never had to wait for my villa to be ready, they did do the early morning housekeeping knocks on check out day, but that hasn’t happened to us recently, maybe those survey responses helped.
All of the CM interactions I’ve had at the VGF have been positive, well except for this guy - he was a bit…different 🤷‍♀️
