Room rates over Christmas/New Years

I know that Disney resort room rates are much higher over the Xmas/New Year's period - is it the same for off site resorts? The rate to stay at Gaylord Palms after boxing day are $129/nt (before taxes) via the disboards discount.

Is that considered to be a good rate for that time of the year?

Yes, offsite rates can be considerably higher during the holidays then other times of year.

It's hard to say if it's a good rate without knowing what the accomodation is.

We paid $150 a night last X-mas for a 3 bed/3 bath townhome with it's own splash pool. I'm looking around for something a little less expensive this year.

Rates can vary a lot based on whether your looking for a house or a condo, number of bedrooms, private pool or not, how nicely decorated you want it.......

During the holidays you get a little less than you pay for so to speak.
We get condos or homes normally during our NYE trips of 5-8 days as it is cheaper by far.During value seasons all the resorts are more of a comparable value.

The perks for staying WDW onsite are not worth the $$$ unless it is in the value resorts.Staying USO onsite at least you get $50 per person worth of FOTL to offset the higher room rates.

This year we will be staying onsite NYE as it will be a first for one of the couples going.

BTW,you'd better book now or you'll be staying Comfort Inn or Motel 6

A lot do charge premiums for Xmas - we managed to get a lovely TH for the same good rate over last Christmas (but we did stay for nearly 3 weeks)

That would be a good rate for that timeframe. Also, Dreams Unlimited usually offers a package rate for the holiday season that includes 2 tickets for the ICE! exhibit and some other goodies. I had it booked this last Christmas but wound up at Bonnet Creek instead for a better price and used a code to purchase my ICE! tickets for half-price online - worked great!
