Hi All, I don't know if this has been addressed but I was wondering, has anyone been able to upgrade their room selection and still get the wedding discount?

Here's our situation...our room block includes the Grand Floridian for the garden view rooms. However for DF and I we wanted to upgrade to a MK View category room - this is really important to me since I'm considering it part of my wedding/honeymoon- however when I spoke with group reservations today they told me I couldn't upgrade and still receive the wedding discount. I'm talking about getting the % off not saying I want the same room price as a garden room. I was under the impression from a conversation I had early on with someone at FTW that you could upgrade your room and just pay the difference - which I'm more then willing to do. But the group reservation person told me that either I had to get the garden room and hope that a room was available at time of check-in to be upgraded or pay the full room price to be sure I got the MK view category.

The group res. person did say that the only way we could get the discount was if our wedding planner told them too. But I don't have my wedding planner's contact info yet. Pam helped us thus far but we were switched this week to Meri(sp) and she called and told me they'd email me the contact info for her and her assistant but I haven't received it yet. Plus I feel weird begging them to give me the discount. Though in some ways I feel that heck with all that's going into this wedding and with the 50 people we're bringing to their resort I would think getting the discount is only fair (my bridezilla moment I suppose) but I know Disney probably doesn't see it that way.

The other thing is I know they upgrade you if they can but I also know that we're there the same week their filming the parade so I'm afraid that the Grand Flo will be booked up and it's my wedding so I don't want to just leave things up to chance. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. And thanks for letting me vent!

Christine princess:

You can have the MK Veiw added to your block. It is not done through your planner, but through your sales person, so Pam would still be the person to contact. We were able to add the BoardWalk Villa Rooms to our block for our honeymoon.

Thanks, maybe I'll try to contact her tomorrow to see if we can do that.
