Room prices?

Have been looking at prices on disneys website, and I was shocked to find that it would cost the same for a room for us (1 adult & 1 11yr old) as it would for a family twice our size.
This really seems to penalise single parent families who only have 1 child.

Are there any other places to book that I would be able to get a better deal than this?

disney charges per room and not by how many are in there

Ok,ty.
I assume that will stay the same no matter who we book through then.
That could add quite abit to our costs.

no some places like virgin may charge a underoccupancy fee as most require two adults so it may be cheaper to book with disney and do flights seperate

Charged more for less people - thats crazy!

We've never gone anywhere outside Europe before and never flown, so I haven't even looked at flights yet.

If you are booking room only then yes its the same whoever you book with. You are paying for the room not people in the room, although if you book on Disney.com you pay a $10pppn suppliment of there are a 3rd or 4th adult in the room(not children)
Its the same if you are staying in Disney or offsite.
Filling a room to capacity is always going to work out better value.

Always compare with a package price with someone like Virgin, although I always find a package very expensive for us in school hols it might work in your favour, I don't know.

yes alot of places charge for less people if you dont have 2 full paying adults.

some travel agents may do a single parent prices but you would have to ask them

We are doing it all seperate this year and its saved us money

we are paying for a room anf free dining via disney uk and then i booked flights with virgin atlantic around £300 each. it saved us around 600 compared to virgin holidays prices

Thankyou.
Sounds like I'll need to price it with lots and see which works best.
Or convince someone to come with us and share the room cost ;)

We did that on our 1st trip 16 years ago. Shared with DW's cousin and her DBF, after 1st week they had to go get another room, they couldn't cope with us snoring any longer:rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: My DD already has that problem!

In all honesty 3 weeks would be a long time for 2 families to be in 1 room together, even if on some days we did diff parks or activities.
(We did this at DLP for 5nights no prob, 2 mums & 2 kids, but my friends son is terrified of flying so not this time round)

charging for 2 adults! thats so expensive! should so be able to get that cheaper doing it diy

Virgin want £5,055, room is £2,100 (retail, Virgin will probabaly make out of that) so they are charging £1,477.50pp for the flights.

I booked for my friend & her son age 14 using Disney.com, I put her son as an adult. It came to $1646 for 10 nights at Pop Century with passes incl hopper & water park with free dining. In-direct flights from Newcastle cost £747. This is from 24 August.

It could be something to do with the fact that Disney class children infants under 3 years old children as aged 3-9 years old after that they charge full price for tickets etc. It's not good I know but that's how they work it out, they changed the ages of "children" a couple of years ago so it could affect prices.
