Room Preference at CSR

I'm wondering for those of you who have stayed at CSR, what your preference is overall for room area. We requested a water view, but not a specific location, i.e. Cabana 9a, 8b, etc.

We are 4 people, 2 adults, 2 children--1 with special needs (but not requiring special room). We want to have convenient location, but also, don't want anything too noisy.

Buzz2001...do you have a favorite area? You seem to be the expert on this. ;)

Thanks for any advice/feedback.

T.

I like the cabanas best for their location and casitas best for their courtyards and fountains.

Depending on what you want to be close to, here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge (most convenient location and most preferred).

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool (and is the old smoking optional building).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Make your room request as soon as you make your reservation. It’s never too early.

Our first stay at CSR we didn't make a request for a room and got Casitas 1 (1276) and absolutely loved it! We had a beautiful fountain outside our room, could walk to El Centro under cover (it rained one day but we were dry:thumbsup2 ) and had an easy walk to bus stops 1 & 2.

Our second trip we requested Cabanas and got our wish 8B (8982). Unfortuneately we had a view of the parking lot, right next to the stairs and the room had a funky odor!:sad2:

All in all I would ask for Casitas again for the convenience and ambiance.:thumbsup2

We like Cabanas 8a or Ranchos 7b if we are going in the warmer months and plan to use the Dig Site frequently. Last trip, we were in Ranchos 7b facing the quiet pool. This was a great location, close to the Dig Site, right by the quiet pool and laundry, close to bus stop 4. We were on the second floor, no problem with noise. It was about a 7 minute walk up to El Centro, but a nice walk by the lake. We stayed in Casitas 4 one time also over Thanksgiving. Good location for bus stop 2, beside a quiet pool and a 5 minute walk to El Centro. The weather was chilly that trip, so we only went to the Dig Site once and it was a little bit of a walk.

We loved the Casitas. We were in Casita 5, it was farther away from the main building but we loved the little walk. We had a water veiw and had a full view of a courtyard and fountain and the lake too. We loved being super close to the bus stop, which I think was our favorite part.

It's reassuring to here people say they like other room locations besides the Cabanas. It's making me less stressed about the importance of getting our room request.

We arrive early in the am so we will most likely take whatever is first available.

We have a water view reserved with a request for 8b, we'll see what we get.

Each section has great room locations. Like anthing else, it's all what you make it.

Since this seems to be the most desirable location, what views are available (water, parking, fountain)?

Thank you!

We were in Casitas 3 in a standard room while my parents had a water view that frankly, wasn't really much of a water view. The location is very close to the smaller pool and laundry as well as the bus stop. The one day we went to the dig site, we just drove our rental car, and you can also take the bus, if I recall.

We have stayed in Casitas 3, 4 and 5 (5 the last two trips). It is close to the quiet pool, the spa and we have a beautiful view of the Lake and with a hammock right outside our room.
