We are due to check in on 8/26-9/2. I am having trouble getting good airfare for the 26th but found a $99 fare on the 25th. I am considering flying down on the 25th and checking in for one night, checking back out and in the next day to start my package with free dining....is this a good idea or will it screw everything up? As far as ME goes, I'll have to add it to the room only ressie on arrival and add departing only to the vacation package...I feel like something will get totally screwed up if I do this. Anyone have any experience doing this? Is it a good idea or should I bite the bullet and pay the higher airfare on the 26th? BTW the airfare difference is $400 and the one night room is only $130 plus we'd get there a day early. Opinions please? Thanks!

I think it's fine. We've had to do split reservations before and it's fine. Just check out/back in and most likely you'll even keep your same room. As far as ME - not a big deal.

Have a great time!

We are doing the exact same thing. Our package is 8/26-9/2. Airfare was too high on the 26th. The evening of the 25th a flight was only $99. We arrive late, check into room only at POP. The next morning we head over to the WL and check in.
We save money, but the best part of it is we get an early start on the 26th!
Have a magical trip!

Looks like we may be on the same flight! I am flying out of Islip on the 25th too - just booked the $99 flight:) We are doing a room only at POR and then checking in for our package on the 26th. Hopefully they'll let us stay in the same room:) Have a great trip!!:)

We're also doing this. I already had my airfare into MCO for a room we got with the 40% discount. Then when free DDP come out I changed the check-out date with the first reservation to coincide with free DDP. Since both stays are at the same resort, the CM that handled the change for me said to be sure and let the front desk know the second reservation is a continuation of the first one (that way there's an even better chance that we won't have to change rooms!).

We are doing the same thing and if you let them know they put it in your reservation so you wont have to change rooms. You do have to go to the front desk and recheck in so you can get you room keys with the dining plan but you shouldn't have to change rooms (if your staying at the same resort). I was also able to get a AAA rate on the room only.
