Room only reservations?

Few questions...

1. If booking a room only reservation, can I change that to a package at anytime before our trip?

2. Has anyone used a discount ticket vendor online before? Do they work okay? Any trouble?

3. If I book a package now, and there is a room only discount that comes out later, what is the process like to change to a room only - or will they apply the discount to the room portion of the package?

You can not "change" a room only reservation to a package. If you decide you want to book a package, you will need to call and tell them you want to book a package. You'll be required to put down a $200.00 deposit within seven days of the date the package is booked. The package must be paid for in full 45 days prior to your arrival date. You can make payments on your package between the date the deposit is paid and the 45 day mark. The only requirement is that the payments be a minimum of $20.00. It's like having a Disney vacation on layaway.;)

Once your package is booked, tell them to cancel your room only reservation. They will put in a request for the room only deposit to be refunded to you. You will be given a cancellation confirmation number.

I have NEVER purchased Disney tickets from anyone except for Disney and I never will.

If you have a package, you can't get a room only promo applied to your package price. But, if a package promo comes out you can have it applied even after you've booked. The only proviso is your resort has to be one of the ones included in the promo. I've had a promo come out after we booked and I just called them. After they applied the promo, I saved over $350.00.

Hope this helps, Lisa

We have done both. Last year, we stayed at All Star Music with our grandkids. I booked room only and purchased the tickets through Ticket Mania. I have used them twice and I give them an A+ - prompt service, free shipping (at least at that time - can't speak for now). We were not on the dining plan, so all-in-all it worked out better for us price-wise to do it that way. This September we are staying at the All Star Movies, just my husband and me. I started out with a room only reservation and was going to purchase tickets again through Ticket Mania. When the free dining came out, the cost of the package was only like $123 more than the other way. We would definitely pay more than that to buy food out-pocket. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info! I am still not sure what I want to do yet. I am so worried that a "better deal" will come along, but there is always danger in that too!

I had to say that we have purchased tickets through WDW, Undercover Tourist, and Ticketmania and have had a great experience with all three. The great thing about Undercover Tourist and Ticketmania is they are cheaper, especially after using the mousesavers newsletter link.

I personally prefer to book a room-only reservation and purchase tickets separately. We don't use the dining plans and it is cheaper to book a room-only with a discount and use the mousesavers link through Undercover Tourist to buy tickets.

We did consider doing the buy 4 stay 7 package discount but we like to stay longer than 7 nights. It was a better price for us to stay at the Dolphin with a teacher discount and purchase tickets separately and we get to stay for 9 nights.

It might not be a HUGE difference in price but if it is cheaper I will forego the package.
