Room only reservations in 2020...out of luck?

Just went on chat about any information on when I can add tickets to my November 2020 room only reservation and got the most vague response, not really surprised though.

"Thank you for you patience. At this time, we are temporarily pausing new ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel reservations so we can focus on Guests with existing tickets and reservations. Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make a theme park reservation before new tickets are sold.We will resume new sales of tickets and Disney Resort hotel reservations after that period of time"

to which I responded with "But I do have an existing reservation"

and was told "Im sorry for the confusion, I was referring to existing reservations with Tickets"

exactly, so what about room only 2020?!!????

..."later this summer" "keep watch on your email and our website"

:crazy2:

was able to book a room for 2020 with my travel agent. I thought they were suspended but when I saw a facebook advertising their labor day specials that were able to be booked. I asked her and she said they could book 2020 as long as there is availability but could not get tickets. I don't need tickets since we have a annual pass. The discount was not that much off rack rate, but I booked it and will see what happens if/when disney opens up 2020 bookings.

A note also if you're concerned about being locked out of days because of the delay in being able to get tickets: you can look at the park reservation calendar without needing to log into anything or prove you can make a reservation now. There are currently three categories/tabs for park reservations: theme park ticket holders only (meaning not staying on-site), AP, and resort guests. The first category can't book yet, so all of their dates are greyed out. But the APs started booking yesterday, so we can compare the second and third calendars. There are a number of days over July and August where not all parks have availability left on the AP calendar, but if you look at those same days on the resort guest tab, they are available. This implies that they are setting a certain number of park spots aside for different categories of guest. As of yesterday (when last I looked), the only dates for which resort guests were full-up (even for only one park of the four) were during the first 1-2 weeks after reopening. Everything else had all 4 parks available every day for resort guests. Assuming that they keep this three-bucket system (which seems to be in line with other statements/rumours going around to date), it shouldn't be a problem to get park reservations as resort guests once they start selling new tickets/packages in mid-July.

Agree.

The obvious (now) fact that Disney has created multiple buckets of availability for various types of guests, also lends credence to statements made by some CMs this past week that existing DVC and hotel guests who don't have tickets have had Park Passes set aside for them once ticket sales start up again. Unknown if that is a separate bucket or if that allocation is pooled in with the existing Resort Guest bucket. It may not really matter, as long as they have accounted for that group.

We're DVC and have a Dec trip planned with some extended family. DW and I have APs, but the rest of the crew (5 others) do not have tickets. I've never been particularly concerned about not being able to get in the parks (despite Disney's constant warnings that park entry was not guaranteed). Seeing two different calendars showing different sets of availability, does remove any lingering angst.

I think a lot of people would be less concerned if there was more information being sent to people in this situation from Disney. Everyday we are hearing how parks are filling up and it takes hours to get a hold of someone to talk to a CM. We are literally the last group of people, to have given DIsney money previous to the shutdown, to get to try to book park reservations. Then to hear that a "sale" is posted on FB. This is crazy. Not really feeling the "DIsney Magic".....

We have a SEPT 2020 trip booked so I have the same question.......

I just spoke with someone at Disney over the phone.....she spoke with a team leader and came back to the phone telling me that this was brought up in a meeting earlier today and that it is currently being addressed and we need to check back online or call them back by Sunday to hopefully find out about an update to when we can add tickets/book park reservations. So from what I gather, this was overlooked and now seems to be brought up and they are going to address it and get us in somewhere, someone online said we will get to add tickets on the 24th? don't know where that info came from.....but honestly I don't know how or why we would be at a disadvantage, especially when all of us with 2020 reservations most likely had to reschedule multiple times and were not allowed to add tickets previously.... here's to hoping we do get recognized and helped by Disney!
I got through yesterday and was told I should be able to buy tickets for both of my 2020 reservations on Sunday the 28th. I usually buy military tickets - when those would be available he didn’t know. I was just going to cancel because not being able to get tickets in 2020 changes the whole trip- he suggested I wait until after 6/28- he also said buy them from a computer not the app. We will see whet happens. If we have to cancel, it’s not meant to be this year. We did Disneyland in February, so we are lucky to have had our 2020 Disney fill. Stay safe everyone

I tried online today. There is definitely a new page to buy tickets but it doesn't work. I chatted with a cast member who told me the same thing I heard before "later in the summer".

I have had an existing room-only reservation for both October 2020 and February 2021. This morning I was able to buy tickets and make park reservations to go with the February 2021 visit. I attempted to buy tickets for the October 2020 visit but the ticket start date option only permitted 2021 dates. So the ticket page worked but only for 2021 as Disney had said would start on 6/28.

So we will sit and wait till Disney flips the switch on allowing 2020 ticket purchases.

Where can you see this without logging it to your MDE account? My passes are blocked but I have DVC points I have to use by the end of September (at least at this time, they are reservation points from a cancelled DLP stay) and am considering a staycation either the last weekend in August or labor day weekend once DVC is allowed to book at one of the regular hotels. Looking at these calendars would help, but I can't find them?

Go to purchase theme park tickets. After you select the kind of ticket you want, it will provide a link to check the calendar for availability before purchase.

I can't get through on the phone with Disney to get tickets. Can I just purchase the tickets online (on their website) myself and link them to MDE, then do the park reservations?

I'm a bit confused by some of the comments here. I'm planning on renting DVC points for a stay in August...should I be concerned that I will not be able to purchase park tickets? The reservation availability calendar shows basically the entire month as being available for resort guests.

When this thread started you couldn't purchase park passes for 2020 and people were afraid that all of the park reservations would be taken before tickets were made available. Now Disney is selling park tickets for 2020 and there are available park dates in 2020 so this should not be a problem now.
