Well looks like those of us with room only reservations in 2020 are out of luck 😔

"Later this summer, we will resume sales of 2020 tickets and Disney Resort hotel arrivals, based on availability of park reservations, while we continue to provide guests with existing tickets and Annual Passholders the opportunity to make park reservations for 2020 dates."

Yup by the time you get tickets all the best dates/times/parks could be gone. Looks like a big RIP to Room Reservations only

I think if I had a room only reservation in 2020, I would try calling on the 24th and see if I could upgrade to a package. I seems crazy to me that they would only do it for 2021 reservations.

We have a SEPT 2020 trip booked so I have the same question.......

I just spoke with someone at Disney over the phone.....she spoke with a team leader and came back to the phone telling me that this was brought up in a meeting earlier today and that it is currently being addressed and we need to check back online or call them back by Sunday to hopefully find out about an update to when we can add tickets/book park reservations. So from what I gather, this was overlooked and now seems to be brought up and they are going to address it and get us in somewhere, someone online said we will get to add tickets on the 24th? don't know where that info came from.....but honestly I don't know how or why we would be at a disadvantage, especially when all of us with 2020 reservations most likely had to reschedule multiple times and were not allowed to add tickets previously.... here's to hoping we do get recognized and helped by Disney!

I had mentioned the 24th because that's when people who have a 2021 room only reservation are able to add tickets and make it a package.

Sorry i didn't see your earlier comment, I actually was referring to an instagram person named Livingbydisney who had also said that the 24th will be the day we could add tickets, but didn;t provide much information of where she heard that from, sorry for the confusion

I think this is a temporary problem, not a permanent death to Room Reservations only. Room Reservations only are popular and they won't want to lose that normal population of resort goers.

No worries. Here’s the screenshot if you haven’t seen it already. Logic would say 2020 resort only reservations should fall into this category but we all know Disney logic is not always the same. 🤪

My hope is being able to add get the necessary tickets for the one person in the party that doesn't have tickets. I have an A.P. and switching to a package usually has the A.P. person at the end of a short stick.

I can confirm that room only folks without tickets already are in trouble. We have a room only reservation in Sept where 3 of the 4 of us are AP, and we were planning to buy the 4th a regular ticket closer to our check in date. I called today. They will not help us out or sell us a ticket for her. (which I understand, but I don't) So 3 of us can make a park reservation Monday. But then what?

What a colossal mess! It makes no sense to me why they won't allow room only folks to buy their tickets NOW so they can reserve Monday.

I’m sure there is some logic behind not letting people with resort only reservations purchase tickets, damned if I can figure it out. Maybe they want to give those people with park hoppers that won’t allow them to hop to be able to have first dibs on the reservations. People purchasing tickets now would only pay for a base ticket. We have a reservation at the Poly for August, and as I have previously mentioned, we did not purchase park tickets in advance for the first time ever.🤦‍♀️

I think it is because they don’t want new people with tickets when they don’t know if they can accommodate everyone out there who already has them,

Yes, they can tell by cash guests in packages how many it is, but no idea how many others are out there,

I think they feel that if someone has a ticket,,,which is what is needed for a park reservation, they have priority over someone who does not,

So, they had to put people in an order. Onsite with tickets got the best spot....but offsite with tickets got a higher spot than onsite without.

This is what makes me upset. If it works out that we can't get the park we want, we will obviously cancel. Ugh

I understand the frustration and there were going to be winners and losers. Many APs are upset that they have to wait and onsite guests were given priority.

Really, unless someone was fortunate to have both, the rest are on a waiting game,

I agree. I also called today and was told that the 24th is only for 2021 reservations and that we would have to keep checking the website.

I was only waiting on MVMCP info before I purchased tickets, understandably. Now I feel I’m out of luck.

My only hope is say they are only allowing about 35% capacity now, maybe in a few months they will go up to 50% and more reservations will become available?

I am in the same boat. Was waiting for MVMCP tickets to determine how many days of regular tickets I wanted to buy. I sent that screenshot to my travel agent hoping that she might have some insight, but I'm not holding my breath.

I was on the phone with reservations and Guest Services today for four hours. Neither CM could tell me when room only 2020 would be able to upgrade to a package. I am frustrated that Room Only 2021 can upgrade on June 24th, but 2020 is in limbo. Shouldn’t they take care of 2020 guests first?

Problem with all this is, their data analysts should be able to run a report that cross-references room-only reservations with the list of AP holders (and names on purchased tickets that aren't in MDE or somehow not associated with a room in the DB yet). So Disney should know exactly how many rooms with no form of park access exist, so they could offer these people tickets. This tells me:
A. They didn't think of that (which I find very hard to believe).
B. They are aware, but don't care.
C. They are way over park capacity on Room+Ticket/AP, so they are hoping room-only cancels to mitigate the issues. (Most likely, and reinforced by the delay in allowing non-room APs to reserve parks.)
