Room Only Reservation - Question?

We are staying in September at CBR for several days with free dining, but I am looking into getting a room only reservation at one of the value resorts through Priceline or Expedia (whatever is cheaper), just for the night before our trip actually starts.

I'm looking at an All Stars, and I understand the room occupancy is 4, but we might have a party of five. This sounds rather sneaky, and I guess it is, but right now we are a party of 4. If a person happens to join us on our trip (this is completely hypothetical and up in the air at this point), then could we technically still stay at the room since it was paid ahead of time. I mean if I go in with my kiddos then my husband and my mom bring the stuff to our room after that, then who would actually know there were 3 adults and 2 kiddos in a room. My son is a very small 3 year old (just turn 3, but still wears 18-24 months), so he will sleep with me and hubby and my daughter will share a bed with her granny.

It's just for one night. Our REAL trip begins the next day. We are driving from Texas, so need a place to stay for one night to catch up on lost sleep from driving through the night to get there. We figure we'll take the kids swimming and eat at the food court OOP, then visit Downtown Disney to get the kids ready to hit the parks the next day.

Your thoughts? I don't want to spends tons of money on a suite when my toddler does not require a bed of his own, you know.

Has anyone ever done that on a room only reservation?

First off, the rooms at the value resorts are quite small IMHO, so to me even 4 persons in a value room is a tight fit. The other problem is that room occupancy is based on fire codes, and if it should be discovered that you are exceeding room occupancy, they can ask you to leave without refunding your $$. Can you get away with it for one night?... Perhaps, but why risk it. How much more would it be to get that one extra night at CBR where the room occupancy is 5?

Why not just stay offsite that first night? Or in one of the DTD hotels that has an occupancy for 5? We stop in Wildwood for the night. It takes us a few hours to get to Disney the following morning. This way we get there and get checked in early and hit up a park. That first night offsite is actually part of my budget.

I'm sure sneaking people into rooms happens a lot. I'm also sure it's still against policy and if you get caught, even for the one night, there could be consequences. They could make you pay for an extra room or in extreme cases could kick you off Disney property all together. Personally, I'd cough up the money for the extra room OR get a value suite for one night OR I'd ask Disney if you can fit 5 people in the room if the 3 year old sleeps in a pack and play.

It happens a lot and no one ever gets caught - its just against the rules. If you don't care and want to "risk it" (even though nothing will happen) then go for it. Comfort would be my main issue. That is a lot of people for a smaller sized room!

PS: No matter what they will not let you "add" another person to the room if the occupancy doesn't allow for it. End of story. So either don't tell them and do it or don't tell them at all.

Sorry, but something will happen if they get caught. Several folks on these boards have been asked to leave or pay for an extra room at rack rate when they were discovered to be exceeding the room occupancy. It's not a matter of Disney being "nice" and overlooking the issue- It's a fire code restriction that Disney has no choice but to enforce.

Thanks for the input. I understand the rules, but the ASR are cheaper than some of the DTD off property for 5 person room. It wasn't factored in my budget initially and my mom may not even join us after all, so it probably won't be an issue.

My mom started a new job a few months back, so I removed her from our reservation when that happened. Now that she's been there for a while she was going to ask for the time off, and if it is approved I'll be adding her to our reservation at CBR for the whole trip.

So it's still up in the air at this point. I saw that the rates were really cheap, so I thought I would grab it up. It's just for a night, so I'm sure we'll be fine. My husband, son (2 at the time), daughter (5 at the time), me and our dog (80 lbs) all shared a full size bed in our guest room for 3 months while we were renovating our master bedroom earlier this year. We are no strangers to fitting in tiny spaces, so having two beds will be quite a dream compared to that nightmare :)

:sad2: Sorry, OP, but that is just wrong on so many levels, as has already been explained to you. And you will be adding your DMs name to your vacation package? You do know that you will pay an "extra adult fee" for that, right?

This has bad idea written all over it. Yes, it is a cheaper option. It's just not an option for you, that's why the occupancy restriction is there. It applies to you as well "just one night" or not. Go for a room set to hold 5 and save yourself discomfort and potential trouble.

Otherwise, check out offsite. I really like Westgate Town Center.

Agree. No offense to the OP, but if an extra hundred dollars for a moderate room that will sleep 5 within the code is going to break the budget, it might be time to re-think the plans a bit.

Yes, I'm aware of the extra costs to have a additional adult in a room plus the cost of tickets; fortunately my DM is open to paying for her portion of the package since it will be a late addition at this point.
