Room only reservation--pay with gift card?

Howdy Disers,

I'm about to book a one night, room only reservation at the Grand Californian. I have a large Disney gift card that I would like to use to pay for part of this reservation. Is this possible? When I do a test booking online, there is no option to enter gift card numbers.

I also have a smaller (but still substantial) amount of Disney Reward Dollars (from my Disney Rewards Visa) that I could use to pay for part of the room. The online booking engine gives me this message:

"If you are a Disney Rewards® Visa® Cardmember and would like to redeem your rewards for this transaction, please call (714) 956-6425."

Has anyone been able to do this? Any insight appreciated.

Did you call the number?

You have to trade in the points for a gift card. You can use the Disney GC to pay for the room.

I was able to use a gift card to pay for a portion of a room-only reservation upon checkout, but they did require a one-night deposit when we booked (I booked over the phone). If you're not seeing an option online, I would just give them a call.

Yes, I did call the number...but only after posting here. The cast member told me that you can use Disney Reward Dollars to pay for a room only reservation. I need to transfer my reward dollars to a redemption card to use them, exactly as skiingfast said.

Because I am only booking for one night, I will need to pay the entire amount due at the time of booking. The cast member I spoke to told me that I cannot pay the deposit (in this case the entire amount) with a gift card but I can use a redemption card with Disney Reward dollars.
