I'm reading conflicting information about this.
If I book a room only reservation, can I also book the dinning plan?
I'm reading it can only be done over the phone.

Thank you! :)

You can't add a dining plan to a room only reservation unless you're an AP holder or DVC member. To add it to a RO reservation you'd also need to purchase tickets through Disney thus making it a package.

Based on threads I've read here, it appears adding the the dining plan and making the reservation a package has caused problems with people FPs going away. I personally am leary about making changes to my reservation once my FPs will be made (not til late Aug for my Oct trip).

I have a room only reservation, and called and added QSDP. They said it can only be done over the phone. If you have a discount on the room, make sure that the discount carries over.

For the most accurate information, call Disney and ask.

I am here to tell you that YES YES YES you can. ANYONE can. You have to have booked TWO nights onsite in order to add any dining plan you want. NO tickets needed. It will follow package rules too. (so $200 down etc etc)

It's a newer program that Disney is being quiet about. Call- and if you get a CM that says no- call again. They are wrong :) I just did it last week.

You should post this on the dining plan board not here to get better answers.

Yes! Just did this to change our WL stay and added tickets to an earlier portion of our trip on YC. It's called a ticket-less RO discount. We are at WL with Deluxe dining and no tickets since they were able to add more ticket days on the YC stay. I was then promptly refunded $1,541!:cool1:

I am currently waiting on the Florida resident room only discount and but I was told with a "ticketless" package the Florida resident rate wouldn't apply. I was quite discouraged but I may call and see how much a one day ticket package, plus room, plus dining would be.

Edit- I was just told there may be ticketless packages for Florida residents. I shall remain hopeful!

If you've added DDP then it's a package, whether you bought tickets or not (if you didn't buy tickets, then it's a "ticketless package.") The only guests who can add DDP without a package are DVC members booking through Member Services.

Keep in mind that after you add DDP and convert to a package, you're now subject to package deposit, payment, cancellation and change rules. This could be relevant if you were counting on using the room-only reservation rules, which are much more lenient than the package rules.

If you already have a room-only reservation it will be cancelled and refunded and rebooked as a package. You cannot apply any payments you made on the room-only reservation to the package.

As I see it there are 2 issues here:

1. Can you add the DDP to a room at disney without buying tickets. YES.

2. Can you add the ddp to a room and do so under the 'room only rules'. NO. It then becomes a package 'ticketless' and is subject to package rules and regs.

Most people that ask this question aren't asking about #2. They are asking about #1. However----when #1 applies, #2 applies :thumbsup2

Good to know, thanks. :)

We haven't made reservations yet. So I'll keep this info in mind when we do. :)

However, you have to know the reason why they are asking about #1. If they wanted a room-only reservation because they want to pay the balance at check-in instead of at 45 days out, then they cannot do that AND have a dining plan. All bases now covered...
