I plan to book two rooms for May of 2009. We had planned on booking a package but have changed our minds based on the DDP. My question is ... When I book my room only rate will I have to pay one night's rate per room? I'm thinking yes, but just wanted to know if anyone had any insight into this. TIA

I've always booked a package, but I believe for room only, you would have to pay one night's rate for each room.

You are correct. When you book a room only you have to pay one nights deposit. The rest is due at check-in. Enjoy your stay.

I have been booking the room only for a few years. Since I have had AP's, I have been fortunate enough to be able to go most of the time discounts are offered. The room only has less stringent rules. You only pay one night's deposit, and you can cancel up to five days before arrival. However, if you book on line, the rules are different. I think you have a 45 day window for online bookings (not quite sure). I don't do the DDP because the majority of restaurants I like are not on the plan, and sometimes I just want a hot dog and an ice cream that day. I do, however, have the DDE (dining card). It gives you 20% off of your food purchases for up to 10 people in your party for restaurants on the list. I go several times a year, so it quickly pays for itself. The reasons to book a package or not depends on your individual needs and family types.

Yea, 31 more days to go to WDW.

What I did was book a package so I only had to pay the 200 deposit instead of 385 and then when it gets closer to the time and hopefully with a discount I will change it to room only take the discount add dining and tickets (which becomes a package again)and then pay it in full by the 45 days, this way I have had plenty of time to save and I have up to 10days before we travel to make it a package again and pay it in full then. Hope that makes sense! All it really does is save me money now and with the price of gas...........:scared1:
