Room only now, package later?

I am considering booking the room only discount for spring break before it expires. There are a lot of variables yet to be determined to see if we could take this trip. If I book the room only now, and add the tickets later, would it still be a "true" MYW package? I am really interested in maintaining the Disney Quest and mini golf features as we would probably only have one park day.

Thanks!

Yes, you can build on to the room only and adding tickets can be done at any time. And if you call to add tickets onto your existing room reservation, that would make it a MYW package. You can also start with a package which only requires a $200 deposit, whereas a RO requires one night plus tax.

If you book a room only can you add dinning and tickets when you arrive and keep the room only price?

No. Your room only reservation would need to be converted into a package at least 72 hours before arrival. You can book a package with a RO discount. It just discounts the room price.

As the pp stated, you can use a RO discount with a package. The discount would be applied to the room portion only, but you can still take advantage of it and book a package. Keep in mind that if you book RO now and want to change to a package later, the RO will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit (or payment in full if done 45 days or less from arrival). Since RO and packages are separate reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to other, therefore, requires the cancelling of one and rebooking the other. As far as it being a MYW package, yes, you would still get all of the package components if you changed your RO to a package later.

Piggybacking on this just so I understand - how do you get the RO discount in a package? Do you have to ask for it, or can you book online and it will apply automatically?

If you already have a package booked, you would have to call to have the discount applied. As long as the resort/room type you have booked is available under the discount, the CM can easily apply it to the room portion of your package. If you are doing a new booking, you can call or book online. If you book online, just make sure you go through the "special deals" link on the website. If don't go through this link, you will be quoted/booked under rack rate instead of with the discount. HTH :).
