I can't find a room in value or even a cheap moderate for the first weekend in Dec. I'm a little bummed by this as its our first little jaunt with no kids (after a cruise)
Anyone know why everything is so full rigjt after thanksgiving?

Also...looking for tips for off resort for cheap. :(

I just tried it, and you're right nothing was showing up -except Caribbean Beach. King bed and preferred only. I think Pop Warner starts on Dec 2nd so that might be an issue with values and moderates. We were going to go the weekend after your trip but all the direct flights out of MCO to RI (where my Mom lives) were sold out, because that is when everyone is leaving Pop Warner to go back home!

I'm having the same problem. I've been wondering what is going on. I've been trying for a room from 27th Nov to 8th December. I'm looking at Deluxe, Deluxe Villas and Mod's, Looking at various arrival dates during that time and there is hardly anything available. I was wondering if there was a glitch.

We're going that week and I've been a bit surprised about the difficulty I've had making dining reservations. It was easier to find reservations for Thanksgiving Day then the week of the 27th.

I would say maybe free dining has a little bit to do with it. It was available to book for check in from 11/25 to 11/27. We are checking in on 11/25 at CBR and staying until 12/2 on free dining.

Plus with the construction at CBR over 500 rooms have been taken out of inventory. Also, the refurb at POP is taking rooms out of inventory there.

Plus, that is actually a popular time to visit. We went last year for the same time frame and it definitely wasn't low crowds, but it was very manageable, but we also had a heck of a time getting our dining reservations, we had free dining then too.

I have a reservation but tried to change from FQ to POR and was surprised to hear there are no rooms available, not even the more expensive princess rooms. Now this, hmm. It makes sense that it could be the refurbs I guess. My booking is from Nov. 6 - Nov. 20th.

I somehow got lucky and booked an 11 night stay from Nov 28-Dec 9 just last week (I called and booked on Friday July 21). We are staying in a Family Suite at All Star Music. I got a PIN Code on Wednesday of last week, which is the only reason I called. I tried numerous different dates and trip lengths and other than a 2 Bedroom at Saratoga Springs, this is all that was available. I am glad I secured it when I did, since it seems like lots of people are having difficulty securing a reservation for that time frame.

We still aren't completely set on dates, so I may have to knock a night or two off once we book airfare, but I am glad I didn't wait like I was planning to do.

Glad you got the family suite @ AS

Were you aware that Disney changed their booking rules a couple of years ago?!?!
AND guests canNOT drop(or add)
ANY days UNLESS there is another room available to book;

they are required to CANCEL your discounted stay,
and rebook an available one,

My wife and I looked at doing a DVC room during that time frame as our AP's expire 12-5, but there is nothing at all open anywhere.

That's strange! I double and triple checked with the CM before booking and he said I could drop a night right up until the day before check-in if needed. I figured with adding nights, there obviously has to be availability, but I asked him at least twice if I could drop a night and he said it was no issue.

Unfortunately you were given bad information. It used to be just that easy, but no longer.

I was able to drop a night last week from our Pop stay in November. There was no availability at the time from Nov 25-Dec 2 with the discount I had, but they did it anyway. I originally was booked Nov 24-Dec2.

It CAN be done, but it's not automatic like it was in the past. Guest Services can do it or a Supervisor, but not the front line CMs.

That time I did not get transferred to guest services. The front line CM I was talking to first did it for me.

Either there was availability, they had Guest Services do it for them without transferring you or you just got lucky. :thumbsup2

When I worked at the Disney Reservations Center, Cast Members who normally worked in Guest Services sometimes would pick up an overtime shift as a "regular" agent. Their elevated permissions remain, even when not working in Guest Services. So, that scenario is another possibility.

I've been going around that time since 1998, it's always been a popular time to stay onsite.
