Room location requests - does arrival day make a difference?

I can very much relate to this. I went my first few times not knowing any of this stuff, and we were happy as clams. Now I stress and ring my hands with each trip!

Over time I've had a few rooms that weren't quite what I wanted, but I tend to look back at those trips and shrug it off. It's the Poly and Disney after all, which is better than any day IRL. :-)

We've been pleasantly surprised a couple times when we didn't get what we requested and actually found some favorites. You just never know!

We may do Tuesday to Thursday of the following week
Tuesday night we arrive late (9 PM at MCO). The Wednesday through the following Wednesday (7 day Park ticket) and then leave Thursday afternoon for home.

If we do not rent a DVC studio - then maybe a Value or moderate resort :)

As my trip inches closer, I am deciding on our request - I think I've got it.
Did it through touring plans.

Anyways, as I know my chances are slim to none, was wondering if the day of week you arrive makes any difference?
We arrive on a Wednesday, late October. I know it's crowded and I doubt many people are checking out on a Wednesday, lessening the chance of getting my request. :)

Do you think arrival day makes a difference? Not that it matters at this point, but just wondering.
We've taken a lot of trips with a Wednesday morning arrival. We always take the first flight out of Midway and usually get to the resort around 11am. We have had good luck having our room ready on these Wednesday arrivals. I think room requests depend on a lot of factors, and might be harder to predict if the day of the week matters.

I was under the impression that it matters more what time of day that you checked in. For example, with an earlier arrival, when they went to assign us a room one time we were able to ask if there was anything else & they switched us - although we need to wait to get into it longer, but that was fine w/ us. This time, we're coming in late - around 9pm, so I'm more concerned of just getting stuck w/ what's available. I've never done online check-in yet, but will be this time, so hoping that helps.
The only time we ever arrived pretty late after 10pm we got both our requests and an upgrade to a lagoon view at the Yacht Club.
At the Poly we got the longhouse we asked for but we got a ground floor patio rather than a higher floor and a balcony. We did not use the patio as there was loads of really overgrown plants in front of it but we were like a minute from the quiet pool area so it worked out well. There were some tour groups in our longhouse and the only higher floor room they could offer us was right in the middle of their booking so the front desk advised us to stay put.

I don't think time of day matters that much more than day of week either.
Our trip 2 weeks ago DGD and I landed at MCO at 10:30 PM. We got the text with our room assignment at about 5:30 PM that day, roughly. It was exactly what we requested. I wondered for a while why we got notified so late. Then when we got there I realized, it was that late because that's how late they cleaned that area. They weren't around our building till after 3:00 for our entire trip. So I got notified of our room as soon as it was cleaned and cleared for occupancy. Time I arrived wouldn't have mattered, other than maybe it would have hurt me to get that building had I arrived early and asked for a room ready early, since they weren't going to have any of that building ready early. Since it's the building I wanted, it worked out.

I always use Touring Plans fax service to send in our room request.
