We are taking our boys back to Disney in a few weeks- And are stumped over where to get a room. Last time we stayed at the Pop century resort and loved it. We plan on staying at *A* resort for two possibly three nights and then leaving. Purchasing tickets for one day separately.

I know that the Value resorts only allow 4 people and a child under three total. We have 2 adults and an 8, 5, 3 and just 2. Space is not an issue for us- half the time they all end up in one twin bed anyway. My question is- is it possible to stay there anyway and not mention the 2nd young child? Or will they catch it anyway and kick us out? We don't really want to spend the extra $100 a night for a room they say is "our size" when it is way larger than we would ever use?
Our next thought was an off site motel- but not sure where to start there........

I would not recommend trying to avoid occupany limits and lie about the other child you will need resort ID for them.

It truly is not worth it. Port Orleans Riverside rooms with a trundle would work.

You can get great info about off site hotels on the Orlando forum here on the DIS. You can even get great homes with pools for about the cost of a value resort.

Here is the link to that forum: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15

I would suggest you check that forum, before you lose a child. ;)

To Disney, you are 5 + infant.

In addition to POR w/the trundle, you can stay at a deluxe with a daybed, a DVC property 1 BR that has a sleeper chair (so AKV, BLT and some OKW), a Ft. Wilderness cabin, All Star Family Suite, or 2 rooms anywhere.

WOW, did you post here asking us to justify you cheating Disney? If you do not want to spend extra money for accomodations that fit your whole family then stay off site or do not bring one child. You have several options but cheating should not be one of them. Disney has regulations for the safety of everyone and offers many options to larger families but of course they cost more. The decision to have a large family was yours, not theirs.:sad2:

Just get two rooms at a value and request that they are connecting rooms. That is probably the cheapest route. My family is a family of six and we did two connecting rooms, but that was mainly becauase my grandparents tagged along as well.

um NO. I asked if they would notice and also asked about outside options.... That "rule" isn't a state regulation btw- it is them wanting more money- I am not renting two rooms for us with small children- not like I am trying to cram 6 adults in a room or teenagers- lol Just looking for viable options- if you don't want to help then move on ;)

I do think the limits are guided by fire code so breaking them is not okay. If you really can't afford to stay at one of the Disney resorts that legally will hold your family, then I would check out some of the DTD hotels that seem to have some great deals on suites that will meet your family needs. And, some of them may even include breakfast!

Good luck!

Don't forget about the family suites at All Star Music. That would be a pretty good option for you.

Help you with what? Cheating your way into disney accomodations, no thanks! Have you ever heard of fire codes? They are not set up by Disney but by the state of Florida. You know that your family cannot legally stay in one room at POP but you clearly state in both your posts that you do not want to spend the extra money to rent rooms that LEGALLY fit your entire family and if Disney would "NOTICE" the extra person in your room? It is not difficult to see through you and it is you who needs to move on. Your thread should be shut down because you are not allowed to post about ways to cheat Disney. Learn the rules before you post.

:thumbsup2 Agreed. She is aware of this but she does not want to spend the extra money for accommodations that legally fit her family, she wants to cram 6 people in one room at POP and hope Disney does not find out.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all, standard rooms have a max occupancy of 4. Disney is nice enough to give families who have 4 people along with a child under the age of 3 some leeway by allowing that 5th person in the room. Disney isn't really trying to make you spend more money, they are protecting their butts and going by the fire code. Trying to get by this fire code is just wrong. :sad2:

WOW! OK, so she asked a question about room occupancy and not counting her 4th child. While she was trying to keep the cost down by not wanting 2 get 2 rooms I understand, and no it's not legal, but did you really have to throw in the comment about her being a family of 6 being her choice not Disney's? Isn't is also a choice to only have 1 or 2 kids? Honestly I am THRILLED and BLESSED to have all 4 of my children and wouldn't have it any other way. Does it stink to try to come up with places to stay at Disney economically, yes, but thank goodness for PINS. IMO, Disney needs to look at giving families of 6 more options. There just aren't a lot out there for larger families other than ASMu, getting 2 rooms or villas.

She's not the 1st one to ask such a question. She's new to the DIS boards, check out her number of posts, and cut her some slack. She came to these boards for info. I really don't think she was out to hurt anyone, just trying to gather information for her rooms. Her kids are small, it's a valid question and maybe she didn't understand the reasoning behind the occupancy being because of the fire code.

So to the OP (original post, momtomany), I think you understand from some of the previous posts that you would be considered as having 5 and a 2 yr. old. Good luck in finding a room (or 2) that fits your needs. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be glad to help you out!

I honestly could not imagine trying to cram 6 people in a room at Pop. It was too small for us with just 4 people. They'd be falling all over each other.

Skipping all but the bolded, even if you don't stay for the whole 3 days on site does not mean you can't buy tickets in that length. It is cheaper to buy longer lengthed tickets than to buy a one day. In other words, if you stay on site for 2 days than just go ahead and buy the 3 day tickets if that is what you need.

Hmm the "rule" is fire code and that is locally set but also reflects federal and state codes and regulations. Hotels cannot violate these codes. They would be charged and fined not to speak of potentially violating their insurance agreement and being liable if a fire did occur. So, the "rule" is about fire code not making money.

For these reasons, hotels are on the lookout for extra people and yes, if spotted you would be removed from the hotel. The hotel would have to do that and have no choice. Worse case, you could be banned. Also, this IS about your family's and others safety. It's about getting you out quickly enough should a fire occur. Don't try to violate the code, get the correct size room for your party's size. Oh, and FYI I am a hotelier.
