Can anyone tell me (because for the life of me I cannot remember) if you can use your room key with charging privilges for restaurants and/or snack bars in the parks? And what about in Disney Village for shopping? I think I used it for shopping in the parks last time, but I can't remember if I used it for food.......
I have a great memory, it's just short!

Yes, you can use it at all counter service places and restaurants as well as on property shopping. You CANNOT use it at the little carts that sell ice cream, popcorn, or sodas. Basically if it is on property and has electricity for the register, you can use it for charging, if it just a person with a change belt and a drawer you can't use it.

Some of the souviner carts do have the electronic registers, so look first, I bought a stuffed bunny from the Muppet Vision 3D cart and charged it to my room a couple of years ago. They were even able to set up the room delievery thing too from that little cart!:D

Yes you can do this. The resort will set a limit on your room key depending on the card. You can use the room key like a credit card to charge anything back to your room bill.

One word of warning: if/when you reach your limit, Disney will tell you. They will also send that amount to your credit card at that time, too. So if you have a $500 limit, when you hit $500 or more, the charge is sent to the credit card and your Disney account is cleared and set up for another $500 or charging.

Thank you so much Eeyore and Carrieberry for your replies. I think using one card makes it so much easier, especially with the older kids when they want to go and eat at one place and you want to go to another! And then you don't have to carry cash!

It is so nice to be able to let the older kids go and eat on their own as you said and not have to worry about giving them cash, and then trying to get the change back from them! LOL! Maybe we will bump into you there, just look for the two that are looking to see which carts have electronic registers and that will be us! Have a great trip!

Carrieberry,

I was under the impression that minors couldn't charge, or is it that you specifically have to request that your kids' room keys are also activated for charging?

They usually ask how many rooms keys you want issued to the room and then out of those keys how many do you want to give charging privialages to.

Yes, they actually can charge as long as you request to have their keys attached to your charge card. If you want them to have keys without charging privileges, you need to tell the CM at check in how many keys you need WITHOUT it. They will automatically assign the charge cards to the credit card left on check in unless you tell them not to. A couple of years ago we went with another family and they actually had one of their children (16) allowed to charge and one (11) not allowed to charge.

:bounce: Oh my Gosh! I didn't realize you would be there at the same time as us! Do you have your lime green ribbon yet? I'm still looking, but I'll find them somewhere! See you in the world!
:)

Having trouble finding some, but I am still looking! Bye!
