sorry if this is the wrong place for this but...
if you want to charge to your room but not pay the check out bill with a credit card can you do it? can you give a CC but check out with cash? I am wondering if this is possible...I mean you could just pay it off but wonder if you can just not have the charge go through in the first place or is it charge as you go. I have heard of some prepaying but just wonder what the chances are of that getting messed up would be. any suggestions?

No, you do not have to use the original credit card to pay your bill at the end of your stay, as long as you do not charge over your limit, which will be on the slip of paper you must sign when checking in. It is important to go to the front desk and settle your bill the night before you check out if you want to use some other form of payment, whether it be cash, check, or another credit card. You can even have some of your bill charged to someone else's card, which we have done when my daughter and her husband went with us, to offset their charges to our card. They are very flexible when it comes to taking your money! ;)

Remember they will put a hold on your credit card. When I worked at a hotel we would put a hold on the card for the amount of one night's room and tax. If you are staying 5 nights that could be a $1000 hold on your credit card. I would ask at check in what their policy is and how much of a hold they will put on your card and how long after you settle your bill it will take for them to release that hold. You could be declined if your line of credit does not have that much. It can also make you be declined if you are using it at a restaurant or store before you check out. You can always put a cash deposit on the room as well when you check-in.

Disney puts a $1 hold on the card. All they do is verify that the card is in good standing.

I don't understand the $1 hold. I used to work in a hotel in Orlando and we put the full amount plus 20 on hold so we knew we would be paid and the card would not get maxed during the stay. I don't know why disney would be different. They are great, but they want to be paid.

I paid part of my room charge with a check, and part with cash and some on a debit card. I usually stop by during my stay and pay a little at a time so I know how I am doing on my budget. Just go to the front desk the night before you check out and ask for a print out and then pay however you want.
Hope this helps.
I used my debit card on the room for charges, not a credit card they gave me a $500. limit, not a problem.:D

this sounds good for me as I want to pay cash without carrying a lot around. so I am guessing they just handle the debit card same as a charge..and the limit would just help imho! easy to burn money there for us!
Thanks

Limits are a good thing! I checked in, handed over the TITANIUM card and went room charge happy! Granted, when I vacation, I believe in going all out... but whew! For a 5 night stay I wracked up over $1000 in charges! And yes, I did verify there were no mistakes! I'm one of those - life is short... live to its fullest type people. Of course, this was our first trip where we ate at a sit down restaurant for almost EVERY meal... not an inexpensive option!

How does paying with a check work? And do they take out of town checks? I mean, if I want to use my card to charge to the room do I give them my credit card to put a hold on it then pay them with a check when I check out? HELP!

When I paid with a check (from Wausau Wi) they asked to see my drivers licence and to see my charge card again for identification, I gave them debit card as ID, again not a problem. I don't know if they have a limit for paying with a check, the amount I paid was approx. $350.
I usually pay off my room charge every $350. to $400. so I'm not over welmed at final check out. I also have a daily limit on my debit card and don't want to be embarrassed if it won't go through, (1st year on property this happened and it really wasn't a problem they just took a check at that time too, but it was embarrassing!!).

My question is this..

1st Can I pay by 2 different credit cards @ check out and
2nd does there have to be funds available on your card at check in?

One post said only $1 another post said something else.

Oh and also, I asked this question before but...

how easier are the ATMs to use?
I use one here all the time but last time we were there I tried to use the ATM and was unable to get any funds. I contacted my credit union but you have to have a $500 monthly balance in order to get a Visa card for you checking account.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for the info. I will call them and see what their policies are for paying with a check. I don't want to get there and be out of luck. Anyone else have suggestions?

when you find out would you post it?
Thanks

The two times I've gone as a grown-up (meaning, I had to pay for my own stuff!) I used a credit card at check-in. They DID NOT put a hold on my account, just swiped it to guarantee availability. Both times I was told that they have tiers that they will let you charge up to, $1500 being the highest, before they contact the credit card company again. I never crossed the $1500 mark (thank goodness!), but I came awfully close!

Have a great trip!

I just spoke to Port Orleans (where I am staying) and they said it is a $1500 limit to charge to your room. Apparently you don't have to put a credit card on file if you are paying with a check. And all you have to do it have a valid drivers license with the correct address on the check. She said there is no limit as to how much you can make the check out for. But once the account gets close to the $1500 they require a payment be made before more charging can happen! I hope this helps everyone wandering!

so if you know, does that mean they hold the check till you check out or what happens if you do not get to your limit? I guess you could just go in every few days and give them a smaller check if they cash it as I wouldn't want to have to wait for a month or what ever to get my unspent money back.
Thanks for your research and posting it.

No, you don't give them a check up front. You don't pay them until you check out. Then you just give the amount of the charges.
Sorry if I wasn't clear.

WOW! POR must have upped the limit since October! When I was there last month it was a max of $1000. They wouldn't go any higher until they called the resort and got the limit upped. HEHE, I went a little crazy the last day and maxed it out :teeth:

Yeah, the lady said $1500 max. I am only going to be there for 4 days so hopefully reaching that won't be a problem!
