OTHER than the suites @ AoA?

We are in the initial phases of planning our November 2014 trip and I want to start by picking a resort.

We just stayed at AoA in November and we loved it, but we might want to try something new next time.

What other rooms have the "feel" of AoA in regards to size? H & I LOVED having our own bedroom and bathroom, and with our 3 girls we will need the extra space.

I'm considering renting DVC points but I don't know enough about it yet to jump on that and I don't even know which rooms we would fit in. I have to admit I feel really stupid when I read the DVC threads... it' so confusing to me!

We usually book through a TA and renting points would take her out of the mix and I like giving the local agency business.

Any suggestions?

How about the Family Suites at the All Star Music? The are set up a little bit different from the AoA suites. However you and your hubby would still get a queen sized bed in an actual bedroom, and you would have 2 full bathrooms. Plus the kitchenette is more separated from the sleeping space than the one in AoA. And the All Star Suites are cheaper.:)

This is a great value option, but OP- know that you would not have your own bedroom in the ASM Family Suite as there is a separate bedroom with 2 queen size bed and a pull out couch in main room.

Nope. The bedroom has one queen sized bed in it. And is an actual bedroom with a door. The living area has three pieces of furniture that are fold outs. We have stayed in one, so I know that of which I speak.

The room set up you describe is not what the all star music family suites is like. I think you may be thinking of a different room? The family suite does have a queen bed in the bedroom and fold out couch and chairs in the living room area. We thought they worked well for our family.

So weird! It was a while back, but I swear we had 2 queens in the bedroom! Maybe I'm confusing it with the time we got connecting rooms there!

Thanks!

Op- since you just stayed value and if your budget allows, I would probably lean towards getting a 1 bedroom villa that sleeps 5 (not all of them do- some only sleep 4). For instance if you were to get a 1 Bedroom Villa at BLT, you would have your own room. Same with AKL Kidani. Additionally, some standard rooms sleep 5 but you wouldn't have your own room, such as the Poly, GF, and Contemporary. I've never stayed Moderate before; maybe someone can speak to that :)

We have 3 kids also and stayed at both OKW and AKV Kidani this year. Rooms are very spacious at OKW, you can leave both sofa beds opened all the time and still have enough room. But we liked having a second full bathroom at AKV. We'll be going back to OKW next time, but may try getting a 2BR villa. You can sometimes manage to rent a 1BR villa at OKW from a DVC member for as little as $200 per night (depending on the time of the year).

At a moderate resort you can stay at POR. Deluxe: BW, BC/YC, CR, Poly, GF. Villa 1 Bdrm: BLT & AK-Kidani for sure, maybe others as well. Or you can stay at any two bedroom villa. Oops, almost forgot Ft. Wilderness cabins.

All Star Music Family suite is a good choice. We have stayed there in a suite twice.

You can also stay at POR in an Alligator Bayou room. It has 2 queens and a Murphy bed. (Folds down out of a cabinet in the room)

You can rent points at stay in a 1 bedroom at OKW. OKW has the biggest rooms of any of the DVC properties. They have a boat to DTD and their restaurant Olivia's is very good and it serves B,L and D. ANd if you rent DVC points you can stay there for cheaper than any of the family suites and for about the same price at staying at POR.

The biggest difference of staying on rented DVC points (from what I have read) is you don't get daily housekeeping service. Which doesn't bother me. We reuse towels at home so I don't mind reusing towels on vacation.

It really depends a lot on your budget. We have a family of 5 and have stayed in a 2BR at BLT (spoiled me forever) but can't usually afford that. A 1BR at BLT (or similar) would still be very nice and spacious for your family. We've also done a standard room at the CR. Tight, but workable. Another option is to do 2 connecting rooms at any resort you like. I personally like POP but the rooms only can do 4. If I could be assured of always getting a connecting room we'd sta there in a heartbeat. But I'm not sure what the policy on connecting rooms is. The one time I asked for it, we didn't get it and then it's just more of a hassle trying to coordinate between 2 rooms far from each other. I thought I read that if the # of kids outnumbers the #of adults that you have a better chance of getting a connecting one but I could be remembering wrong. Good luck!
