2 adults, 4 older kids. do you think the contemporary will take us? will the day bed pull out to sleep 2? i just can't bear the thought of the rock hard murphy bed in the cabin again!!!!!!! any other ideas? thanks!

Regular rooms at the Contemporary have a maximum occupancy of 5 (plus a single infant less than 3 years old) so six would not work if the kids are all older. They do have some suites in the garden wing buildings that are more reasonably priced than the club level suites in the tower.

In the MK area you might also consider a Deluxe Room at the WL or a 2BR Villa at VWL.

As far as bang for your buck, the Family Suites at ASMusic accommodate up to 6 and mom and dad get a real Queen sized bed separate from the kiddos. The kids, otoh, will have a full-sized sleeper sofa, a twin sized sleeper chair and a twin sized sleeper ottoman.

The day bed is like a twin-size bed, so no. Plus, chances are you won't be able to make a reservation for six people in a room that doesn't hold that many.

The junior suites at WL sleep six.

I have 5 children and the last 2 trips that the whole family went on, we just stayed at a value resort with 2 connecting rooms. This option is the cheapest and also gave us 2 bathroom... (3 daughters with all that hair). :rotfl:

As a pp mentioned, ASMusic has the family suites, but they aren't for my family. (We spend a lot of time in the hospital with our youngest and those pull-out chairs remind of us hospital stays.) Although, they do include a small kitchen and you'll still have 2 baths.

On some of our other trips, the 2 older children weren't with us, (or the 2 younger, depending on what year it was,:rotfl: ) so we were only a party of 5 and stayed at the Beach Club.

Have you consider renting points?

The Junior Suite at CSR will Sleep 6.

The Family Suites at All Star Music will also sleep 6.

Here is some info about the Family Suites:

Note: there is no extra fee for extra adults in a Family Suite;.
1-6 adults can stay in a Family Suite at the regular rate.
AAA now has discounts on the Family Suites.
Codes and other discounts have also been offered.
Keep your eyes open for specials!

Remember a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.
The Family Suites are located in the Calypso and Jazz buildings. Those buildings are the buildings which are nearest to the main pool ,food court and bus stop.
That means less walking to and from your room!

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.
The sofa folds out and sleeps two. Both the chair and ottoman also fold out into a twin bed and each sleep 1 person.

My family, 2 adults, 2 teenage children, and 1 small child stayed in WL Deluxe room. While technically there were beds for everyone, the room was way to small for even five. I couldn't imagine another older child in the room. We were stepping all over each other and our stuff all week.

If you were going to stay at WL, I would definitely suggest going for two adjoining rooms. Plus you would have second bathroom.

BTW:
I do feel you pain.
I have 4 children (all grown now) also.
When my children were younger we stayed at cabins twice and that was enough.
Disney did not have any other options (they did not have the WL Suites or DVC . They only had very expensive Suites which cost more than 2 deluxe rooms :scared1: ) in the 70's and 80's for 6 persons when my family was young so we either stayed in the cabins or rented two rooms at a Deluxe resort when we stayed onsite.
The first Mod (CBR) built was opended in the late 80's.
We booked two connecting rooms at CBR in 1988 but did get connecting rooms since there none left when we checked in.

Since than I wrote many letters to WDW asking for more affordable options for larger families.
That is why I was so excited when WDW opened the new Family Suites in 2006.

I guess it just took about 100 of my letter over 18-20 years for them to finally respond to my concern!

I do not know how comfy you would be but the deluxe room at BW sleeps 6, plus as an added bonus that room gets CL. :)
