Room discounts blacked-out during "Jersey Week"?

Hi all! We are not from New Jersey but our school has off on Election Day so we booked a trip to Disney for that week. Also it was really important to us to do Food and Wine and also MVMCP so it really worked out!

However, we are counting on a room discount and I have read that Disney doesn't offer discounts during that week. Does anyone know if its just free dining that is blacked out or if that includes room discounts as well?

At any given time, only a certain part of inventory is eligible for room discounts. The inventory made available during that week is very low. It's not formally blacked out, but it will be difficult to get a discounted room.

I know that if rooms are booked, Disney won't offer a discount so its counter-productive to book in advance if you need a discount. When I said "booked" i just meant bought our airline tickets. But I do want to reserve something before the 180 day window so we can do 180 + 10, right? I guess we will have to book something we can afford and then upgrade later. I was just curious to know if discounts are ever available during this week.

Historically, the only days blacked out in November are around Thanksgiving. Having said that, this year all of October and November are blacked out for the bounceback offers, so it will be interesting to see what, if any, discounts are offered this year for October and November.

We have gone to WDW the last several years in the first week of November and we won't go without a discount. We have already taken two trips since the bounceback offers came out for 2016 and were disappointed that November 2016 is blacked out. We went ahead and booked a very good deal with a travel agent which can't be named on this board, so we will be at F & W the first week of November.

I know you can't tell me the name of the TA, but would you mind sharing what resort you got the good deal at? Thanks.

Free dining is a definite no during that week, but they have offered room discounts that week and did so last year.. But they were SO limited! My TA was online as soon as the room discount went live and still couldn't get me anything. It was crazy. They really are getting to be more and more limited as each year goes on.

I didn't want to have to worry about waiting on Disney and their scarce discounts this year, so we booked a deal also with a TA that cannot be named. This deal is costing us less at Beach Club than we would have paid for POR. Unbelievable!
