I am trying to figure out which resort will be better in terms of the room condition for a 2-bedroom unit.

BCV, since it is brand new, I assume there is little wear and tear, however, it seems many people are complaining about the water pressure in the shower and the fact that there are too many doors due to some design issues. I am not counting on Stormalong Bay since in early Feb I am not sure if it is warm enough for us.

BWV is undergoing renovation. Does anyone know the status of it? I heard people were saying that it is harder to get the standard view rooms for next year because DVC is taking some of them out of inventory due to the renovation. I am trying to figure out the timetable. Does anyone know approximately when they will be done and are the preferred view rooms being renovated first? Does it mean that the rooms won't be as nice as the one at BCV if I get a BWV one that is not yet renovated?

A plus for BWV is the community hall, the fact that we have never stayed on the Boardwalk side, and the possibility, however remote, that we will get a Boardwalk view. We stayed at YC and BC, but never came over at night to experience the night life on the Boardwalk. From what people are saying, it seems pretty festive at night, not sure about the week before President's Day though.

Sorry about the rambling. But I am just trying to figure out which resort will be a better choice for a 2-bedroom since this will be our first DVC stay and I want to make sure that I can present the best possible DVC experience to DH so that he won't think that DVC is a grade below a deluxe hotel (due to its lack of daily housekeeping). Please don't focus on this statement because I don't agree with him
:D

Thanks for any input you can provide.

The outside of the building is being renovated at BWV (painted), not the rooms themselves. They had a full room renovation in 2000, not sure when they will start again.

The rooms are made unavailable when the work is being done outside and there is scaffolding up. ( At least that is what I was told last March). So whereever the outside work is being done those rooms are not available. I'm not sure what the remaining schedule is for BWV. This would effect the available inventory.

Thanks so much for the replies.

This board is full of resourceful information. I never realized that BWV was just renovated in 2000 and the current work is only for the exterior part.

I think I will be very happy to stay at either one. :p

luckytso,

Both are great in their own ways. I prefer BCV very, very slightly over BWV. But based on the fact that your dh is looking for a deluxe RESORT, I would pick BWV.

BWV has more of the hotel feel, BVC is a little more relaxed and feels more "attached" to the hotel rather than part of it - at least to me.

Also, aside from the rooms themselves and the quiet pool, BCV uses all the facilities of BC/YC. Since you've stayed there before, I would again suggest giving BWV a try.

If you want a "DVC experience," again I think BWV is a better choice. When we were there, it seemed that most of the other guests were DVC members and the CM treated us as such. We moved over to the BCV and it seemed that most people were hotel guests and it was difficult for the CM to tell the "members" from the "guests," if you know what I mean.

Enjoy your trip which ever resort you choose!!!

Note if you are planning to go this upcoming early February, you better call now to see if there is any availability at all because you are only 2 months away and it may be difficult to get anything at all at any resort except possibly OKW.

The inside renovation of BWV started in 2000 and was not actually completed until this year. As to outside renovation, Luna pool area and anything left on boardwalk area (both being worked on) should be done by March. The quiet pool area (preferred) was finished early this year. The canal view area (preferred view) and the one portion of standard view overlooking the tennis courts, which are both currently being worked on, should be done by summer. The rest of standard view is likely to be done between June and December and possibly into 2004. Whatever standard view will be available at that time has been filling quickly as soon as the 11 month window starts.

Thanks again for all the great input. It is amazing how much information you have on these resorts!!!

:p

Lucky, I'm biased by the fact that we're BWV members and really ENJOY the experience of being on the Boardwalk. :) :)

That said, I fear that you're going to have a miserable time at EITHER resort worrying about your husband's "impressions". One can ALWAYS find fault with ANY facility, even a new one like BCV. The whole DVC experience is MUCH MORE than the condition of any given room.

Trust me, DVC is NOT the FOUR SEASONS or RITZ- CARLTON.......... It isn't meant to be.:) :) I think that you need to do some education with him BEFORE getting to WDW. JMHO.......have a great trip!!!!!!
