Room clean or not?

A few negative posts have created an impression that the rooms are not normally clean when people check-in; even started a thread:

In numerous stays at all of the DVC resorts, we have never had a room not clean or ready. So I wanted to post this poll and see what the reality is. This has been in the past, but sometimes good to get back up for the newbies or those that missed it.
READY means nothing out of place - like missing chairs or something not working like TV or fridge. NOT check-in time, that is another issue.

Well, I voted "not clean and ready", as it was the choice that fit our experiences the closest.
So far my room has always been ready, but not always clean to my wife's standards. Vero Beach has always been immaculate.
I will say that it is entirely possible that my next 10 trips go perfect in the housekeeping department.
I must also say that housekeeping has always been very responsive to our requests for 'touch up cleaning', including follow up, apologetic phone calls from management staff.

We usually check in fairly early so the room is not ready but always clean when we get there.

Compared to every other hotel chains I've stayed at, DVC continues to outshine then all.

I think the "ready" will sway some votes and won't actually make the clean issue clear. My room hasn't always been ready, but it's always been clean.

But I did vote on clean and ready.

Boardwalk always clean but have never checked in and had the room ready.

Beach Club Villas ready but bathroom very dirty to be nice.

I think it's all deceiving. Because of the wonderful decor and other ammenities, we assume it's clean, but on our first trip to VB, we had some issues with a smell which made me ultra sensitive to everything else. I've made an issue about towels and sheets now to be exact.

My point is that I've always breathed sigh of relief when checking into Disney properties because they are so wonderful, it felt like home. I made no "yuck, don't touch that's" to my kids, but on this trip to VB I realized that maybe I've been sucked in by my surroundings. If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, it must be a duck. You know. It's Disney, it must be clean. However, when an odorl issue raised it's ugly head, I started to notice things like needing new paint, dust in corners, finger prints on the sliding glass door at check in, smudges on the mirror and Hampton Inn quality towels and sheets . . . not bad, but not Disney . . . things I'd expect elsewhere, but was now shuddering to see at my favorite place in the world.

I still think it's heads above everyone else, but wouldn't it be just like Mickey to raise our expectations to a point where we're less tolerant of things we accept elsewhere. Because I'm a Disney snob, I'm going to continue to have high expectations and I feel confident management will try to meet them.

I have to say everyone at VB was most gracious . . . in some ways friendlier than WDW so I'll be back.

Clean and ready? Hmmmm.

One more vote for "always clean, rarely ready". But I voted always clean, because that's what the stated objective of the poll was really about.

And my room has always been ready by 4:00, so to me that's on time.

I was one of the ones who posted on the other thread about finding a less than stellar appearance on my check-in at BCV last year, BUT that was ONE OF TWELVE check-ins at WDW. I do not feel that is the norm for any WDW resort. Overall, things have been clean and ready over the last 18 years that we have visited the World. So how do I vote? Eleven positives and one negative?

Did not vote as the room has always been ready by 4 and we always arrive around noon. 4 is not late. Almost always the room is clean, except for this past visit.

I apologize - I created confusion with the Clean and Ready statement - was really just after the condition of the room, unfortunately, I don't see where I can change the poll options.
I thought about the 1 bad visit amongst many, but figured to leave the poll simple and allow the voter to decide the most appropriate. Probably should have done a percentage poll with several options. Next time will be better, promise

My rooms at most DVC resorts have been clean and ready. The BCV, however, is a whole different story. I stayed there this past winter and found the rooms dirty. I had a ressies in a studio, a 1-bedroom, the switched back to studio (this was by design, as I had just added on there and wanted to check the rooms out by spending a few nights in each.) Not one of the 3 rooms had been vacuumed. (They were on different floors, so the staff involved was not the same.) The glasses on the vanity were dirty, dirty coffee cups, etc. The 1-bedroom was deplorable, to say the least. (It appeared that all they did was change the bedding and towels.) The Housekeeping manager came in and just looked around--it was very obvious that the room was dirty--and she said she was very embarrased.) I was so disappointed in my first stay there.

On the positive side, though, a previous tenant had left a nice roast in the oven for me!

I don't think a clean room upon check-in is asking too much.

I'm hoping for a much better experience next month!

Ahhh, well, sure I read the poll options. Ready to me means ready to move into. But no - I don't usually scroll down for more instructions.....

Perhaps "Room condition acceptable" which in my case, it always has been.

I was the OP on the opinion on cleanliness thread. I'm sorry, but I'm a little worried about BCV. It is my home resort and I just bought there in May. Actually, I have paperwork for a small add on sitting right next to me for BCV that has not been sent in yet.
I love WDW, but I have noticed a decline in cleanliness over all of WDW as a whole for years now.

Check out a part from my last trip report in July about Morocco's bathrooms -
"Public bathrooms next to Morocco were the worst I have ever seen at WDW. I’m guessing at least 15 stalls? None had toilet paper, several were clogged, no paper towels and trash piled on the floor from days ago? My mom and I were totally blown away. My dad hunted down a CM and they called for someone to come clean. What a mess! Very disappointing!"
I sent WDW an email and they just called me the other day to apologize. Really, I emailed cause I love WDW and I hate to see it decline in any way whatsoever.

But, for the money I'm paying for DVC I except a clean bathroom when I check in to my room. True, I might get an apologetic response back if I have to call for it to be recleaned, but I shouldn't have to call in the first place. My opinion on this matter might upset some, but it is the truth. I love WDW, too but I don't want to have to worry about if my bathroom is going to be clean or not when I check in. I understand many might only post negatives instead of positives, but I see too many posts about unclean rooms on here. I will be embarrassed to walk into my room at BCV with anyone for that matter and it be dirty. I don't want people thinking I've thrown money to the wind.

With all the negative posts especially about BCV and unclean rooms I'm surprised BCV isn't taking a more proactive approach and cleaning better?

We spend most of our WDW DVC time at OKW. Most of the time the room is ready, they are always clean, but there is ALWAYS something missing from the room {usually studio} A 4th cup , a laundry bag, an iron, a pen, coffee, etc. etc. This has been a pet peeve of mine. The room is supposedly ready, you go to your room, and something is missing! Of course, all I have to do is call housekeeping, and they bring it over. I guess my point is that I should NOT have to call almost everytime I go to get something that should have been in the room to begin with. Then, you feel obligated to tip the person that brings you the missing items. Is it possible they leave something out on purpose so they have to come back, thus getting a tip?.....I wonder.......
