I know T-Rex isn't Disney owned. Does this mean that you cannot do a room charge at this restaurant? I'm guessing you can only do it at places owned by Disney. Am I correct in this assumption?

Now that T-Rex is on the dining plan, wouldn't you be able to charge the tip/tax to your hotel key? I just assumed you could now that you can use the dining plan.

and we did it in January. I asked before we ordered because I was under the same assumption as you, OP. But, we used the room charge and all was well.

We, too, have done a room charge a T-Rex, even before they were on the DDP. When we first did it in Aug. 2010 the server wasn't really thrilled about it because I think it was more complicated process, but they could definitely do it. I suspect that now that they are taking the DDP the process is much smoother and the servers are more used to it.

It is more complicated than at the other restaurants. I wound up with what seemed like a pile of receipts, and our server said that it would take a few extra minutes. But, it did work, and we were in and out more quickly than I had expected.
