Hi all! Yesterday morning I booked a cruise for 2019. The lady I spoke to was super frazzled and first booked us on the wrong cruise and ship. After asking her several times if she was positive the total cost she gave me was the right amount (telling me it would be around 3k for a family of 4 on the transatlantic) she realized her mistake and booked the appropriate cruise. Received the confirmation email and all is well. Out of curiousity, today I jumped online to see costs of other rooms. The room we booked is one of two currently available online. Is overbooking a cruise a thing? Should I be concerned and try contacting someone? I know the phone lines will be very busy for the next few weeks so I was hoping a veteran cruiser could give me some insight.

I would call. I recently upgraded our stateroom for an upcoming cruise and the CM charged my CC for the upgrade but never secured the room (and it was the last one in the category!). I just happened to look at my new confirmation about 2 hours after I did the upgrade to see the money was charged but we were still in the original stateroom. I called ASAP (because the room we wanted was still showing in inventory!) and was, luckily, still able to secure it. I don't know what would have happened if someone had snagged it in the meantime - well, I know I would have pitched an absolute fit if I had paid for something, didn't get it because of CM error and then they gave it to someone else. Thank goodness, that didn't happen. Anyway - I would call!!!!

your confirmation email should have the stateroom number on it.

When you book on DCL, you are guaranteed a room. DCL is not an airline that overbooks & bumps people off, if that's what you're worried about.

Confirmation email and on my online reservations page it shows the right cruise, ship, room number and price. My husband is convinced it's a glitch of some sort on their website for availability. Will call tomorrow to find out what's going on.

Thank you everyone for your input!

If it is on your confirmation and also on your online reservation, I wouldn't stress. As harried as the res agent was, and as bad as DCL's tech is, I haven't heard of issues where a cabin was able to be booked by more than one family! Where are you seeing it as still available? Are you in your reservation and looking at other cabins available? If so, it would show the one you are booked in (it is available - but just to you). Or are If you are not logged in and just looking at a new reservation for your sailing. That would be unusual.

Update this morning: Our room is no longer showing as available. I'm feeling a lot more at ease now! :)

It was available on the website as a new reservation. Wasn't logged into our reservations page which made me concerned. Tripled checked the right cruise/date/itinerary/etc. to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Even tried looking at the Disney cruise website from a different device. Our room was still showing as available. With how crazy the first few weeks are with opening day I wasn't sure if DCL ever overbooked rooms on accident (or maybe on purpose since it's over a year out and people sometimes cancel?). Makes me feel a lot better that they don't and this seems to be an isolated incident. Whatever the problem was - it fixed itself last night and is no longer a problem. Our room is no longer showing up as available. Will call in a few days to ensure it's not because another family booked as well. I'm all for making new friends on vacation but it would be an awfully tight squeeze to try to fit two families in a Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah!

I've had this happen when calling in to book a cruise. It seems the website can take a little time to update cabin availability. I would guess if I actually tried to book the cruise by clicking on the cabin it wouldn't have let the transaction go through.
