We are checking into Kidani next Saturday in a 2 bdrm lock-off standard view. :cool1: My only room request is that we get a room that is available as early as possible since we have an early morning flight.

Of course we will be prepared that our room won't be ready. Have a pool bag all put together and plan on having lunch at Sanaa.

If we try to get access to our room at 11:30am, what do you think our chances are. We typically always have to wait until normal check in time around 3pm and later. Just hoping we may get lucky this time.

Last year I arrived into Orlando around 830am.

Checked in, asked for first available.

I'm pretty sure my room was ready close to 1115 or so? It was very early. But this was in April at POR

We have had luck getting in most of the time prior to the official check in time. I just did online check in for my upcoming trip and I liked that even though I had requests, it let me put that getting a room earlier was more important.

I think because you are staying at AKV and it is so big, your chances to have it ready earlier rather than later are good!

Chances would be good with a savanna view, less so since they have a standard view.

Also, when you do get your room assignment can you let me know what you get? We are in a 2 bdrm lock off standard in Sept. Not sure what to request yet. The only thing I don't really want is to be above the bus station. I don't mind the walk to the lobby

I will post an update with everything when we get there. MY DH is planning on doing tons of video of our trip. I will make certain he does a room view.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. I agree with Bill that the standard view is lessening my chances.

We also are having groceries delivered by WEGOSHOP. I am suppose to meet her at 2:30pm for the hand off. I know bell services can hold my items, but I really want to be able to just take them up to my room.

Checked in last week 2br dedicated Savanna view.... Room was ready at 11.30am

We checked out of the boardwalk, went to the Poly to eat breakfast at Kona, and then drove to Animal Kingdom to check in. We dropped our bags with the bell hop, parked the car, and hopped on the bus to Hollywood Studios. I received a text message that our room was ready before we got to the park. According to my phone, that was at 11:16 A.M. on June 13th.

I agree that you would have even better chance if you had savanna view since the majority of AKV (including Kidani Village) is savanna view. As for standard view, I would think you would have a good chance for a 2PM check in. But it really depends on the number of check outs that day and when the guests leave the room. If they all leave at 11:00 AM that means a lot of rooms to be cleaned at the same time. To my knowledge there is no system to clean rooms as they are vacated as guests do not really check out at the front desk. The maid's assigner just knocks on doors of rooms that guests should be checking out of that day. And if the guests have moved out the rooms go on the cleaning list. Then maids come through and clean sometimes hours later.

We got off the MAGIC in Feb 2014 and took the DCL bus to Kidani. We checked in around 10AM, and DH just wanted to rest. We went to the activity center and just hung out, watched football and nascar, made crafts and played board games.. Our standard 1BR was ready at 2:30PM, which to DVC is early check-in.
Our view was of the entrance but the room was great with the 2 bathrooms. We added my sister and brother-in-law to the reservation, they live in Florida, and they came over for 1 night. I guess if DH wasn't tired we could have gone to a park, but the rest was good after getting off the Magic.

Check in time for DVC resorts is after 4PM. Not 3PM.

I promised to report back in. Our vacation was wonderful and we had a blast. We got into our room a little after 3pm. I believe our room numbers was 7605/7607 for the 2 bedroom lock-off. We were the first room off the lobby as you are heading towards the pool. I will post a picture this weekend of our room view, but it was essentially very tall plants to create privacy for us. Our patio was right next to the walkway to the pool. There was a lot of landscaping there to create privacy. We spent no time on our balcony because of the heat, but we wouldn't have anyway because of the view.

I loved our room and I am glad to have saved the points over the savannah view. But if you want to hang out on the balcony, then standard view might not be for you.

I'm also hoping for an early check in at Kidani for October! (Studio, Savanna)
Good luck to you!
