Room availability online, but not when I call with a code?

Hello all,

I have already booked and paid for my vacation package for August 2008. I just noticed on the Disney website that there is a discount on moderates for the dates we will be there. I checked online and there is availability at POFQ, which is where we will be staying on those exact dates.

When I called today to see if I could get the discount applied to my ressie I was told that there is no availability at POFQ for those dates for the code. The lady told me I could either switch to Riverside and save $480 on my package, or keep calling and see if something opens up at French Quarter.

I guess my question is: Is there a certain number of rooms set aside for discounts and once they are full then that is it? Why could I book a new ressie online, but if I call with the discount then it shows to be unavailable:confused: ?

Thanks in advance for any help or info!

Yes, they only set aside a certain number of rooms for each discount code. And resorts, too. Last year I tried to get a code for POFQ and it wasn't available there, but we were able to get the discount at CSR, so we stayed there instead.

If you want to price out a ressie with a public code that's advertised on the website, you have to first go to the "special offers" section. For this code you can click on Daisy Duck at the bottom of the home page. When you are brought to the page that lists the rates and dates, then click on "book now" from that page. It will show you availability with the code and your dates. If you price from the "reservations" page you'll get a full price ressie with different rates and different availability. As was already stated...yes...there are limits to the resorts that will allow a discount code and when that resort has reached it's limit then you'll be directed to choose another one. I'd go with POR in a heartbeat and save that $480 for something else. That's a great savings on a comparable resort!---Kathy

since your dates are in August then you can't double dip on discounts; it's one or the other.

If you don't already have some kind of promo or this is a better one, then you can certainly change your ressie.

Thanks dclfun, I didn't know how to do that so that is very helpful.

Unfortunately, I will be there the week before free dining. My husband and I are both accountants and we have to close the fiscal year during those last few weeks of August and first few weeks of September. So since we had to pay for the DDP, saving a little on the hotel would be awesome. I think I may just do the switch to Riverside to ensure I get the discount and then keep checking to see if something opens up at POFQ.

Thanks everyone for the help and info. I really appreciate it!

If you saw the resort you want, and at a price that is better than what you have, just book it. Then cancel your other res, as long as you have no penalties, etc for doing so.
Only from personal experience I would be the lone person here who would not want to stay at POR, but would want FQ instead.

POR is my favorite! I love it. And you can also walk over to the French Quarter if you like. We stayed in the mansions, and it was sooo nice. You can't go wrong at POR. Give it a try.
