Room availability changes?

So I’m trying to swing an Oct trip for F&W and want to stay Epcot resort area with my discount pin code. I have deposit for Fri through Tues at YC . However my ideal trip would be shifted one day - Sat- Wed, which is unavailable at YC/BC and no discount at BWI. Not a huge deal but my question is how often does room availability change? I have been checking every day and never see anything open. So for those of you who watch resort availability or plan last minute trips is there a time when people generally cancel? 30 days out? Or is it more like one here and there I’m likely to miss? Is there a waitlist or any way to be notified if something opens?

When are you looking in Oct.? There is a very large Garter IT Conference that has the entire Epcot area blocked: Oct. 14-18. Sept. 6th is the key date for cancellations for this event.

Note: Swan / Dolphin have 4 day minimum and the Disney resorts have a minimum of 3 days. Other normal dates to check are at the 30 day mark when all packages are due for final payment. Another set of key dates is at the 90 and 60 day mark and finally every day.

Thanks...that’s hrlpful. Currently reserved to check in 10/19 but ideally want 10/20. I’m sure convention has impact.
