We are planning a group trip the end of September 2022. We will be 3 parties. One party will rent DVC points (can book at 11 months). One party will use their RCI vacation points to get a Disney Resort (can book at about 9.5/10 months). The group has chosen to stay at the Beach Club. My in-laws home resorts are Bay Lake and SSR, so we will not be able to book until 7 months. What are our chances of getting a 2 bedroom for the last week in September at 7 months? We are going to book Bay Lake at 11 months to make sure we have a place to lay our heads, but were hoping to be able to switch to where everyone else is staying. Not a huge deal if we can't will just make things more fun. Is there ANY chance there will be rooms left at Beach Club at 7 months? Thanks.

IMO, the chances of all 3 parties getting a BCV reservation at 7 months are very small (virtually zero).

Chances are virtually zero that the party using RCI points will be successful. I don't believe DVC deposits much of anything besides 1 bedrooms at SSR or AKV. I doubt BCV will be available at all via RCI. You can check TUG for more info on those chances..

The party renting DVC points has a very good chance if they book at 10-11 months. The challenge will be finding an owner or broker with BCV points available to rent. That party should start looking for someone right now and commit early if BCV is more important than being at the same resort as everyone else.

The 2 bedroom will most likely also be an issue at 7 months, especially if you are looking for more than 2 or 3 nights.

Wish I could be more optimistic.

Good luck!

BCV is difficult to get at 7 months year-round but especially during F&W. Even owners at BCV has difficulty at 11 months for F&W.

RCI exchanges will mostly likely be for SSR or OKW. BCV is a longshot.

Renting @BCV might prove to be successful but again, availability of a BCV owner with points that can be used in September and villa availability may be a problem. We're already booking Sept. 11, 2022 and forward from today. People are walking their reservations.

My advice is for everyone to shoot for SSR. That's where you have the best chance of everyone booking successfully.

Thank you for your honest answer. I was kind of expecting this. We may end up at different resorts at this point since we will all need to book at different times because of our circumstances.

I will definitely have our friends with RCI double check everything. She was showing most resorts for trade.

We will for sure start doing things in the next week or so as we are planning on checking in on 9/23.

Again, thank you for being straight forward.

BCV via RCI, and for a specific week, is so unlikely that were it to miraculously happen you should also buy lottery tickets and do some heavy sports betting.

RCI exchange can be challenging when you're flexible on week, let alone for a specific week. RCI will list all the resorts as possible for trade, but actual inventory is another thing altogether.

I am very sorry to have to echo the posts above - it's highly unlikely all three parties will be able to book BCV via the methods envisioned. RCI exchange availability into DVC for January and February is just coming now, and I can confirm it's almost exclusively OKW or SSR 1-BR villas. The party that hopes for an RCI exchange needs to put in an ongoing search NOW for the desired dates and needs to include more than BCV in their list of resorts if they hope to get anything at all. They can read over and follow this thread from TUG - https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/2022-dvc-rci-exchanges-please-indicate-weeks-tpu-or-points.324255/ - for up to date information.

Thank you for your advice. I assumed it would be very difficult to get everyone at BCV during F&W. Guess we have to go back to the drawing board. lol

Thank you very much for you insights. We all need to regroup at this point. lol But a trip to Disney staying anywhere is better than no where!

Thank you for your thoughts. Everyone's answers have been very helpful.

You should also try BWV at 7 months to at least be within walking distance of the others. Larger complex and if you needed to waitlist, waitlist both.

I don't think DIsney ever put BC in the RCI mix, even when it was empty during Covid.

Hmm, very weird. I don't know personally because it's not my account, but my friend was looking and where she looked gave her a list of MANY Disney hotels. Maybe it's just a ploy lol

YES! Good idea. We will figure something out I'm sure. We were able to get BWV this past September for 6 nights over Labor day at about 4 months out as a fluke. So you never know. But knowing to not get our hopes up is the main thing I think.

Yes, all the WDW DVC resorts are listed as being part of RCI. Unfortunately, Disney is in charge of what is actually deposited into RCI for RCI owners to book, and for the last several years, even before the pandemic, they were depositing 1 BR at OKW, SSR, and occasionally AKV.

Early September (Labor Day) is less popular than late September with DVC owners.

All of the DVC resorts are listed. And yeah, it's a ploy.

Actual availability is as CarolynFH indicates, and availability is not for every week in the calendar.

Have your in laws book their home resorts at 11 months so that at least you’ll have a place to stay in case wait lists don’t work out. They may want to book split reservations if they have enough points available…

We have decided to go with Bay Lake at 11 months. And my in-laws may have enough points for our friends to use as well. If we happen to find something else, so be it. If not, I'm at Disney, I don't care! lol

UPDATE.... We booked a 2 bedroom at Bay Lake! Our friends were able to rent a 1 bedroom at Bay Lake. Our other friends rented a 2 bedroom at their timeshare.

We will stay at Bay Lake since our friends can't change their reservation since they ended up renting. Our other friends may try for a 1 bedroom on property through RCI, (if their son ends up not going) but have a room off property if nothing on property is available through RCI.
