Room Assignment just given at SSR questions

I’ve stayed in Carousel. It’s like being punished and made to sit in the corner. Definitely a “what were they thinking” experience.

Wouldn't matter how low the points were, never again. If I were assigned there, I would definitely ask to be moved.

They can, like they did near HH at OKW. But, the problem is, the more booking categories there are, the less likely a room will be available for a longer stay, you may need to book some nights in one category, and other nights in another category...meaning hassle of moving, checking out and back-in and so forth.
Good point there.

In reality there is just the 1 building that slightly further away from the paddock pool than the furthest paddock building. 2 of the 3 buildings are right next to the bus stop, probably the two closest buildings to a bus stop in any section and it is the second stop, easy on easy off. The furthest building in the Carousel is slightly further from the Carriage House, than the last building in Congress Park or the second to last building in the Paddock. If they made these buildings less points, people would be fighting over them and claiming how great they are. There is a reason why they made STD rooms at BWV and its not because they have great views and they disappear fast. Yes it’s the furthest section to DS next to the THV. If I were doing long park days it wouldn’t bother me one bit to be in the furthest Carousel building. Lots of resorts have long walks to get to places. There is no bus at VGF to bring you to Gasparilla Grill to fill up your refillable drink after the pool closes, same at BLT. I know it’s not as far as the Carousel section is from the Carriage House, but SSR is not Disney’s Premier resort. Long walks at AKV if your at one of the ends of the hallways.

I'm assuming you speak from experience so I am more than happy to gift you with Carousel LOL :teeth:

Having owned at SSR since it opened, I for one have always loved this resort and certainly never felt the need to apologize for any shortcomings it may have had by arguing it was "not Disney's Premier resort". From the beginning, I have said Carousel was not well thought out. Staying there confirmed that for me. For what it's worth, until the upgraded pool and counter service was added to the Paddocks, this was also a sore spot at SSR that people avoided. I would love for some thought to be given to Carousel... even if it's nothing more than a quiet pool like at Congress Park. A dream, I know, but one I would welcome. Until then, I see it is a place that most people "get stuck"... can't imagine too many folks request that location.

But Chuck,
With OKW they added a cat. but didn't do anything with the point allocation. Everything stayed the same. I never understood why they split SSR.

But the main part of the discussion here isn't about the number of points, it seems to be about NOT getting the carousel area. They can do that by making a booking category, even if the points remain the same.

It's funny/not funny I happen to like most of SSR, we own at both OKW and SSR and as big as both resorts are they are very easy to navigate.

Could they not put my beloved building #85 (also known to me as my SSR lottery location, lol) and the other one close to it as preferred and then lower the points needed for Carousel?

Sure, IF DVC sees a strong enough reason to do so. But, that would mean a whole new point calculation matrix for the charts, and probably more time and effort that it is deemed to be worth. And I doubt DVC Management views Carousel as a problem, or they probably would've started by doing what they did at OKW and creating a booking category with the same points like Near HH and the rest of the resort by now.
