Room Animals

This was the first trip we received towel animals. We were at POP. We were 5 adults in connecting rooms and each room got 5: rabbit, octopus, penquin, dog, and a swan.

I think it all depends on your CM. I did manage to meet our CM Willie one morning and thanked him for the animals.

I really doubt it has anything to do with having kids, since the times I brought family I never got any, and the one solo trip I made I got several. I really agree with everyone who says it all depends on the mousekeeper. Some have the talent and the time, others do not...simple as that. Tip for service, if you so desire, but it won't make a lick of difference in getting the towel beasties.

By the way, it seemed every single room in Casitas 5 at the CSR had towel animals in the windows when I was there. Maybe the mousekeepers there had a seminar.....just a notion.

Rarely do we receive towel animals, we travel with an all adult group. We are always so excited when we do get one:banana: We decorate our window with small disney stuffed toys when we stay at a moderate, love to put up clings too.:cutie:

Last year we got a small towel animal on the first day of our trip...and then nothing. This year, we had an entire zoo by the end of the week. The only difference -- this year we tipped.

We have been very lucky with getting towel animals. Probably got one at least half of the times we stayed at a Disney Resort. Most of the times we weren't with kids so I don't think that theory holds. I wish we would have been more lucky getting room upgrades (only happened once - when we asked for one).

We never received towel animals during our stays at the Beach Club, but we received lots of them during our stays at CBR. At POP, I saw that most every room had a towel animal in the window, but we never received one (and yes, we were there with a child). I never expect them so when we do have them in our room, it's a fun surprise. My parents did receive towel animals at the Beach Club though and it was just the two of them. The best towel creation we ever had wasn't an animal at all. Our mousekeeper at CBR made a hammock out of a large towel, hung it in our front window and sat all my daughter's stuffed animals in it. We thought that was very cool!

We had the nicest mousekeeper at the WL last month who, actually talked to my DGD about which ones she would like, etc. We went home with 7 in all, one from the AK where we stayed the first night! I think it depends on the mousekeeper.

BTW, her name was Diana, and she actually asked me to ask for her next time we stayed at the WL!!

I wonder if they survey the room and if they dont see any kids friendly items (kid luggage, stuffed animals, etc), they dont go out of their way for towel animals....
I doubt it. We've typically had towel animals there when we arrive.

There seems to be no pattern: Tip or no tip; children or no children.

In our six trips to Disney, we never received a towel animal and I always tipped-however, I gave one large tip at the end. Mistake, you can have different housekeepers. After reading the post it was suggested to tip daily and write a "towel animals please" request. Not only did we get fantastic towel animals but also stickers, toy cars, and other nice treats. Needless to say, we increased the amount of the tips! Our mousekeeper was worth it! :goodvibes

I wonder if they survey the room and if they dont see any kids friendly items (kid luggage, stuffed animals, etc), they dont go out of their way for towel animals....Even though my husband and I are 27 and have no children yet, I think Im going to buy some stuffed animals next time and see if mousekeeping leaves us some fun treats.

I'm single, I don't travel with children, and I have gotten tons of towel animals. Not a new one every day, except for the cruise.

Try Pop Century, seemed like every room had a severed towel dog head in the window. Not the whole dog, just the head.

We never got towel animals either until our last visit in Feb. 2007. I kept seeing them in windows throughout POP, so by our 5th day I left a note for our Mousekeeper requesting one for our DD6. To my surprise....3 animals were on her bed when we go back from the parks. So if you really want one.....ask.

Agree about the Cruise as being the best place for towel animals. However a long time ago (back when it was Dixie Landings) our mousekeeper Maria was amazing. We came back once to find all the stuffed animals watching an animal wearing sunglasses on a water slide (garbage bag). Our kids loved it!

We stayed POFQ last year for a week and never got one. It was obvious we had a kid with us too. The only thing I thought could have been done better was the mousekeeping. But I still loved the resort. Just going to try a different resort this year.

On my previous trips, we never received towel animals, so it isn't associated with tipping. Don't tip assuming that you'll get them and then get mad when you don't.

Our last trip we did receive towel animals six of the seven nights there. We got two ducks, a fish, a seal, a hippo, and a dog.

We never got a towel animal at WDW but we did come back to our room to find all the kids stuffed animals sitting at the end of the bed with the Disney channel on! The kids thought that was the coolest thing ever! Most of the time they just prop the stuffed animals in the window to "watch" for you to come home. Very funny!

My father, brother and I go every year to WDW. Usually we stay in either the Yacht Club, the Polynesian, or the Grand Floridian, but this past year money was a little short from remodeling the house, and when I visited home I was told we wouldn't be able to go...I was a little bummed, but it was no big deal. Well, my Dad sneaked in a trip to the World without telling my brother and me, so after a four hour drive that was very conspicuous, we were happily surprised to see WDW!

We ended up staying in the All Star Movie resort, and for the first time ever saw a towel animal-- A mouse to be exact! Our mousekeeper left us a Mickey head resting on the edge of our bed, which up until this point, we'd never even known about towel animals. So every night I was unbelievably happy to find new creations waiting for us! :cloud9:

Now, my brother is 22 and I'm 21...So we aren't exactly kids anymore, but the stuff we accumulate each trip to Disney seems to be very kid-ish. For example I always bring my Pal Mickey, and my brother and I both like the Star Wars toys, pin trading, and WDW autograph books.

Seeing as how we go every year and had never recieved one, maybe staying at a value resort does help? I wouldn't necessarily say that having kids items around does, because for every year prior to this one we had never known about them or seen them. Good Luck on getting yours and have a magical vacation!:goodvibes

From what I have seen in other people rooms, I think I like the stuffed animal scenese better than the towel animals...I think Im going to bring some stuffed animals along next time :thumbsup2

I've stayed at total of 52 nights onsite at WDW in the last 8 years.
Only on 1 night did I ever get a towel animal.
And I am not complaining, because I totally understand that the housekeepers have to be trained (on their own time) and make them (on their own time) in order to maybe get one in your room. Most housekeepers don't have the time to do that sort of thing.
