Room Allocation for our Wedding Party

Hi everyone,

We are getting married in June 2016, travelling with some family and friends from the UK. We are all staying at Caribbean Beach Resort, booked with Virgin Holidays (travel agent in UK).

We would like to all be allocated in the same building. We can now check-in online.

Should we check-in online or call the resort closer to the trip and ask if they allocate us or both? I contacted someone at DFTW and they said to call the resort about five days prior. Just wondered what others have done in this situation?

Second part of this is that we have a free night at the Grand Floridian (so excited!!). Again should we check-in online or wait for any possible pixie dust? Would online check-in affect that?

BOTH! You can make requests when you check-in online, but you have to call as well or they probably won't be honored.

My family stayed at Old Key West last fall and in our reservation and online check-in requested to be in specific buildings closer to the front of the resort (that place is huge) because my grandfather was coming with us. When we got there, they hadn't made the request and they said it was because we didn't personally call, that they usually only follow through with requests when the party calls. They were very gracious in making it up to us with pixie dust, and where we ended up was fine, but it's nice to know.
