Just got our Gty assignment for our 11/15 sailing on the Magic. We are first-time cruisers so this is all new to us. I tried to research our room (8000) & read a couple of stateroom reports, but wondered if anyone had any extra info to share. With it being the very first room & as far forward as you can get, I'm wondering if the view is better or if it's restricted. ???

Thanks for your input. :)

You will probably have a tilted wall with the porthole set at sort of an angle, with a view out of it that includes the bow of the ship.

This is the Magic, so no angled wall or porthole. This is a standard 4b with veranda. It is the first veranda port side on deck 8.

You will have a great view of the outer bridge and if you are out on your verandah while the ship is pulling into port it is likely that the officer on the bridge will wave to you. We were in 8004 and our friends in 8000 one cruise. Very quiet with just the officer quarters on the other side of the door at the end of the hallway outside your room. Perfect view of the dock & CMs waving to you as the ship leaves CC also.

Thanks for the helpful info. :)

Lisa - thank you for your firsthand experience. Would you stay in one of these 4b rooms that are all the way forward again? Did you notice a lot of rocking? This is our first cruise, so I'm not sure if anyone will deal with seasickness.

Also, will our room have the clear-plexiglass verandah wall and are the views unrestricted?

Thanks again! DH and I are SOOOO excited! We aren't telling the kids - we plan to surprise them at the end of our Florida trip and on the day where they think we're driving home, we're going surprise them by pulling into the port!

:) Jenn

Yes they have the clear plexiglass and no obstruction at all. We always stay forward, though usually it is in a cat 8. We feel less movement there than aft. The rocking puts me to sleep quickly at night. We wouldn't stay in a verandah again unless it was a price glitch like on our last cruise. We stayed in 8004 due to a PD upgrade from a cat 8. We simply don't use the verandah enough to justify the cost difference from an OV and would prefer to take another cruise instead.

Thanks Lisa for all the helpful information. I'm glad to hear about the plexiglass, unobstructed views, & that the rocking wasn't bad for you.

:)
