We are heading to Disney in October and I was just able to book all my fast passes. But my wife and I are having a disagreement I am hoping someone could help us with. Let say we are spending the day at Magic Kingdom. We have a fast pass for 7dmt at 9:00am, Splash mountain at 10:00am and Big thunder railroad at noon. If we use the first two and decide not to use the last one and say head to lunch instead, is it still considered "used"? What i mean is that I know is you use your original 3 you can get an additional 1. If we dont use all 3 but the time expires for all 3 can we then get an additional one?

Can someone settle this bet? There are a pair of ears at stake!!

Sorry I cannot help you win ears but I have an option for you. If you decide last minute to not ride it thunder you can always login and change it to something else. :)

As long as the time for the 3rd fastpass has expired, you can get a 4th. Disney doesn't care whether or not you actually used the fastpass.

Yes, if it expires, you can still go to the FP booth and get a 4th. I would suggest either cancelling it or changing the time so you don't lose it!

See, that's not how I understand the way it works. You wouldn't get a 4th FP+; rather, you'd reschedule the one that you missed. Now, the result is exactly the same, so the difference probably doesn't matter in your case. I guess it would matter if you skipped two rides, since you could reschedule two FP+.

Basically, this... If you don't use that 3rd FP, you are rescheduling it instead of getting a 4th. Here's the advantage though! If you are rescheduling the 3rd you can do that from the app so you don't have to make a trip to the kiosk. You only have to go to the kiosk once you have used 3 FPs and would like 4th.

The downside, however (I guess there is one difference), is that you won't be able to reassign to a Tier 1 attraction. You can only get a second Tier 1 attraction as a 4th, not a rescheduled/missed FP+.

Also, it would have to be in the same park as the original 2, wouldn't it?

The result is not the same, at least for me. For both of my days at HS, I booked a "throwaway" fast pass (since Disney FORCES you to make 3). I plan on either letting it expire or cancelling it altogether so I can book a FP for Tower of Terror to ride twice. If I tried to reschedule, it's not going to let me choose Tower of Terror since I already have a FP for it. However, if I cancel my 3rd FP or let it expire, then I CAN choose Tower of Terror (if there are any left). I'll most likely cancel the day of.

Yes, you have to make 3 choices, but you don't have to keep them all. You can delete passes individually in MDX (though you can't add them individually). This way you would be able to book another pass without having to wait for one to expire while in the park

so if I dont make the Big thunder railroad at noon, I can only rebook big thunder railroad? It doesnt consider that one used and I can book anyone at that point? This is all hypothetical and just using this forum to settle a bet, not that we are actually going to miss/cancel our fast passes.

No, I don't know where people are getting that idea from. As long as that third one has expired, you can book a fourth one for any ride you want that's available.

If you don't make the BTM FP window (I'm assuming in your scenario that the FP starts at noon, so it would be active until 1), then at a kiosk/on the app you could reschedule either the time of BTM, or switch experiences/a new time. It would still technically be your 3rd pass, but you are able to edit it after the window.

It would not technically be a 4th pass. If you do not scan all 3, the system in the park does not allow you to book another but rather reschedule/change experiences. It is like a 4th pass, but is not officially a 4th pass

So this means it could not be in a different park, and it could not be for an attraction for which you already used a FP that day, correct?

That is not what it says in the FP+ thread. Check bullet point #1 under Additional/Same Day FP+ in the first post:

I haven't tried passes for multiple parks, so I'm not completely sure on that one. Hopefully someone else can help with that!

I'm just going with my personal experience as someone who lives 10 minutes from the parks and enters them constantly. When I don't use a pass during it's window, I can use a kiosk to reschedule that pass for a different attraction and/or time. It isn't listed as a 4th pass, though it may be unlinked from the others (effectively making it a 4th) which would allow you to book another of a previous attraction. This I haven't tested so I can't speak on for certain.

No, that's incorrect. You can always change the experience or the time, or both.

As long as you've used one of your fastpasses, you can use a kiosk at another park to get one at a time there. You don't have to use them all in order to get one at a different park. That one, however, will act like a "4th fastpass."

I've always struggled to understand the importance of the distinction you seem to be making. If I can reword that bullet (included below) in a different way that makes more sense and has a meaningful difference to a FP user, I would like to improve it. Thoughts?

One additional FP+ can be selected per guest, subject to availability, at an in-park kiosk once the 3 prebooked ones are used or expire. When that FP+ is used, another FP+ can be scheduled and used (and so on).

Glad you are here, Mesaboy!

I'm not quite sure if this is the distinction to which you refer or not, but they seem to be questions pertinent to this thread.

SCENARIO 1: DHS
FP+ 1 - 9:30 - ToT
FP+ 2 - 10:30 - Star Tours
FP+ 3 - 11:30 - GMR

If I have no intention of using the GMR one, can I cancel it upon entering the park, then visit a kiosk after riding ST and schedule a FP+ (call it rescheduling #3, or obtaining #4, that doesn't matter) for ToT if it is available? That is what threeboysmom above would like to do.

If this is possible, does it matter whether the one you want to repeat is a Tier 1 attraction?

SCENARIO 2: MK
FP+1 - 9:30 - 7DMT
FP+ 2 - 10:30 - Space
FP+ 3 - 11:30 - Buzz

I decide I don't want to ride Buzz, so I leave MK and hop to Epcot at 11:30. I arrive at 12:00. Can I get my fourth FP+ when I arrive? Or will the system not allow me to get one at a different park because I haven't used my first three? Do I have to actually cancel the Buzz? Do I have to wait until its window expires at 12:30?

I thought I completely understood the system, but these scenarios have me wondering!
