I'm watching the news on MSNBC and a few minutes ago they said a roof at a Toys R Us had collapsed due to heavy snow in Laurel. MD and people were trapped inside. . . :o

That was about 10 minutes ago. . and they haven't followed-up. . anyone else hear this???

I hope it's not as bad as they made it sound at first. . there has been more then enough tragedies in the country lately.. :( :(

Oaky, now they are saying it's in Hyattesville, MD and they're not sure if there was anyone in there or not. . .

Once again steller journalism from the news media. . no sense waiting a couple minutes for some "facts" before breaking a story . .

All the HN ticker says Toys-r-us roof collapses in Prince Georges Co, MD; shoppers trapped.

Scary. I told my kids no nightclubs. I guess they can't go to Toys R Us either.

Do I have to check every roof before we enter a building?

Prayers for those who are trapped. I can't find anything on the web right now. Keep us posted when you hear anything new.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

Now they are saying it's in Landover Hills, MD. . . and 40% of the roof collapsed and there "may be" customers and employees" trapped inside but no solid info on any injuries yet.

The store had been open for 4 hours, so despite the shoddy reporting it sounds likely the situation is not good. . .:(

thanks for the link Dan!

Now they are reporting that 90% of the roof collapsed and 3 employees have been taken to the hospital with "minor injuries". . .

Scary - I grew up in PG county. There have been numberous roof collapses & scares in the area since the blizzard. Any structure with a flat roof is a potential risk.

Most of the schools in this area were closed all week. The offical reason given was transportation issues - sidewalks & bus stops not clear. However, there was an article in yesterday's paper stating that several portable classroom roofs had collapsed. (No one inside any of them.) I had been wondering about the flat roof on my kids 100 year old school building & was glad they didn't have to report.

That's very scary sounding. I hope all will be okay. Thanks for the link Dan :)

OMG, I have been in that Toys R Us many, many times. I used to work near there and would shop there on my lunch break.

I hope everyone inside is o.k.!!!

What a terrifying situation. I hope everyone trapped inside is alright and no serious injuries were sustained.

Just saw an update on MSNBC and they are reporting that the rescue personnel are using some sort of machine to pick up sound or heat (something like that) and they are picking up something inside the store that may be a person. :(
