I take it this is the surf park? We were in the Ron Jon shop in Festival Bay the other day and asked what was happening with it.

Basically it is still concrete as the set of wave making jets that the builder installed only gave ripples - no surfing was ever going to happen They are now having to install new ones from scratch again. The staff are saying it should be opening next year.

wow amazing just ripples it almost sounds like the builder didn't know what he was doing

i do hope it will open next year my dd is a surfer and would love to try it

Long story short, Ron Jon pulled thier name off the project, and the developer needs more money to continue. Officially "on hold" but I wouldn't count on it ever being finished. More bad luck for Festival Bay.

I don't know that this is a totally dead concept yet. It says in the FAQ....

The first Surfpark, the Ron Jon SurfparkSM*, is currently under construction at Festival Bay Mall in Orlando Florida, and is expected to open in early 2009. We are also evaluating several locations for future parks, including Southern California and New York City, among many others.
