Don't you think the theme for this show should be "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"? Dang, Servilia is a wicked hag.

After last week's totally gripping episode, I was kind of disappointed in the finale. I knew no good would come of Octavian telling Octavia about Niobe's infidelity. I was so upset when she went over that balcony! :guilty: Do you think they'll be back for a 2nd season? DH thinks they won't, but I'm sort of hoping they do.

That whole thing with Servilia and Atia -- wow. Servilia can sure hold a grudge, can't she? Not that she doesn't have reason, but dang!

Anyone else?

I love Rome! The season finale was a little bland, but still this show is better than most of the junk on tv now. I'm sure we will have to wait two years for the second season, just like with The Sopranos.

I am so sad about Niobe. I thought it was odd that she would kill herself like that. It just didn't seem to be in her character. Since she and Vorenus have become so close, she would be able to make him understand that she thought he was dead.

And the oddest story of the night? Pullo's ex-slave girl forgiving him in the end and holding his hand. Say what?!?! He KILLED her fiance. I find it unlikely that she would forgive him, especially after such a short amount of time.

The murder of Caesar was very chilling. Though I kept waiting for Caesar to say "Et tu, Brute".

Overall, still love the show even though the finale was a little weak.

I didn't get it with Niobe. She was worried about her son, telling Vorenus that it wasn't his fault, but then she killed herself and didn't stick around to make sure he was protected? I could understand if he'd lunged at her with the knife and she fell, but I don't buy it that she would kill herself. She's got too much fire in her personality for that.

I agree with you about Pullo and Ireni. DH and I kept saying, "They can't end up together -- it's not that easy!" They needed to build up to that for it to work out for me. Something like at the end of the next season after he really worked for it.

I was waiting for the "et tu" too. :rotfl: I was like, "come on, say it! say it!" but the death was so realistic and he was saying it with his eyes when Brutus stabbed him.

We love this show as well. I am so sad that it is already over. I guess it is back to watching Desparate Housewives (I usually record it) until the Soprano's comes back in March. I did read, however, that the next season of Rome won't start until 2007! UGH!

Wow, I was blown away by Niobe's actions, too! It did seem out of character.

I was also put off by Eirene's sudden change of heart toward Pullo :confused3 - I guess they felt they had to wrap things up for the finale, but it seems they could have left that storyline open until the next season...

Oh...one thing cracked me up: after Servilia went into detail on how she was planning to make Atia suffer, Atia just replies with (paraphrasing) "Oh...well...OK. Thanks for inviting me over!" :rotfl:

Sigh. I'm gonna miss my getting my Pullo fix each week.
