We like Longboat Key near Sarasota, Fl.

Saint Augustine is really nice in Florida and the weather in March is beautiful

Thanks a bunch!! I know it will be chilly, but I'm happy (and so is Hubby) just watchin' the waves. It is very relaxing to us even though it isn't swimming season. I appreciate all the ideas and will look them all up. Can you visit Seaside without staying in a cottage??

Yes, of course!!! Just a few minutes up the road from Destin, you can check out the town center, shops, have lunch, and I believe they have a big public deck and boardwalk that goes out to overlook the beach, etc...
(It has been a few years since I was there, but this is what I remember)

It is an actual community, not a closed, gated, resort. :thumbsup2

I would suggest Treasure Island/Madeira beach area, very nice hotels and lovely little boardwalk area with restaruants and shops. Last time we were there (dec 08) we could see dolphins at the inlet jumping out of the water.

I second St. Augustine!!

Love Seaside!! We usually go every year. It is worth the extra money because everything in Seaside is within walking/biking distance. You can park your car and leave it there for the entire vacation.

It's definitely low-key - not too much going on there except the beach, eating, and some high-end shopping. We love to go and ride our bikes throughout the town and just take it all in.

Highly recommend it!

Also, if Seaside is too expensive, check out the western side of Seagrove Beach (it neighbors Seaside) and Watercolor (the other).

Also, is Destin within driving distance of Seaside and WaterColor? How far? Would it be doable to go to Destin for shopping and/or restaurants? I do want a relaxing 3 day wknd, but don't know if we will get bored??
