Romantic Dining??

Hi all,

So this'll be the first of about a million questions me and the future missus will be annoying you guys with over the next 5 weeks.

We're heading down to WDW for our honeymoon on 6/8. We'll be staying at AKL the whole time. We've got ADR's at Jiko our first nite, and Chef's de France later in the week. That of course leaves us with 6 more dinners to come up with. Do you guys have any suggestions for good romantic dining while we're there??

Just as an FYI we're still mulling over going with the standard or the deluxe dining plan. From reading the posts the last few days my head is spinning, so any advice that you've got I can certainly use it! Thanks for your help!

California Grill is fabulous! Very nice and a great menu. DBF and I went last year and had a lovely date, we are debating going again this year, but will probably try somewhere else (since we are only going for 3 days). Service is excellent. Ask for a table next to the window for a wonderful view.

I would do the deluxe,especially if you plan on eating at some of the nicer restaurants. I would also suggest Cali grill. Artist's point was also really pretty and romantic, however it was not very crowded when we went.
If you are looking for something romantic to do. I would suggest going over to the polynesian for drinks, and taking a stroll on their beach....very romantic.

Well the mostronantic of all is Victoria and alberts at the GF ,perfect for a honneymoon dinner,we had our honeymoon for 14 nights in disney last year.daveb

Artist Point. It's not as crowded as CG. Neither is it nearly as noisy. The service and food have always been above expectations.

California Grill was awesome, DH and I had dinner there on our anniversary trip. Artist's Point interests me too, but we haven't been there yet, and I don't see us taking our boys (7 & 4) anytime soon!

I would do the deluxe dining plan if you have more than one signature meal, if you were considering it anyway.

I think the DXDDP is your best bet too. V & A isn't on the Dining Plan, but the Signature restaurants are very good also. I think they're perfect for a honeymoon. If it were me, I'd schedule a daily late breakfast/ brunch, using one Table Service credit at each. (You are on your honeymoon after all. No getting up really early. ) I'd then have dinner at a Signature restaurant nightly. Since it's not me, this may or may not work for you.

In addition to the other good recommendations, I'd suggest Citricos, Flying Fish (then maybe a boardwalk stroll), Yachtsman Steakhouse, Bistro de Paris (I know you're doing Chefs earlier in the week, but Bistro is more upscale, fine dining with more of a romantic atmosphere). FWIW.

Artist Point is a MUST DO for us each trip! The atmosphere is lovely, the menu is great and it has one of the best wine lists on property.

I also agree with the reviewer who suggests Bistro de Paris. I think that if you're looking for a great meal and romance it's a much better choice than Chefs des France. Chefs is a nice place, but it's full of families and the menu is more like "Americanized french food" while the Bistro is tucked away upstairs, has authentic french cuisine and a waitstaff that really knows their stuff. You're less likely to be inundated with kids upstairs too! (not that there's anything wrong with eating dinner with kids... but your honeymoon is usually not the best time for that!).

Consider trying the San Angel Inn for lunch. The food is pretty good, but it's not the main attraction there - the ambiance is!

California Grill is great, especially if you get a table on the window. If you tell them when you're booking that it's your honeymoon (and remind the maitre'd when you're being seated) you may get one. The food is great and the view is fantastic.

Another place you may want to try is Todd English's bluezoo. It's in the Dolphin hotel and has a very trendy, modern feel. The menu is heavily seafood, but there are alternatives. It's also less likely to be filled with families than the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, which is the other great fish place.

Finally, I'd recommend you get the Fantasmic dinner package (if you can) at the Hollywood Brown Derby. Although it isn't exactly a 'romantic' place, you can get a great meal in a wonderful atmosphere.

Glad to see you've already got Bistro de Paris on your list. I'd also second the mention of Artist Point. That's actually my number 1 pick in this category (V&A's is in a category by it self) and would be my choice. After the nice relaxing meal, take a stroll around the place and down by the shore to see the geyser and gaze at the stars.

I'd suggest California Grill for sure! Also, we love Le Cellier, ending just at 9 when the Illuminations fireworks go off, try for a 7ish ADR. We also really liked Narcoossee's at the GF. If you can schedule it when the Electric parade is going by that's fun too. Have a great trip!!

Just an FYI, some of the places that have been mentioned here are not on the Dining Plan, regular or deluxe. Bistro de Paris and bluezoo are both excellent but you'll have to pay for them OOP. Same with V&A.

I think besides JIKO, Artist Point, Yachtsman and Citricos are probably some of the quieter signatures on the dining plan. Ca Grill and Flying Fish have the best food.

We love going to the Maya Grill at CSR. We try to make one "Date" night (dressy up things) while at WDW and that is where we go. It's quiet (unless some turkey brings kids...kids are great, but, you should take them to a place were kids can have fun...not a adult restaurant..that's just being mean to the kids) and has a great view out the window. If you time things right, you can see the fireworks from Wishes across the lake (unless the trees have grown too high).

We've also had date nights at: Cindy's Royal Table, Cali Grill, Vikki and Al's, Bongos and Shutters. They are all more adult venues (except Cindy's of course).

ditto on The Brown Derby w/Fantasmic. Our first night on our anniversary trip last Sept/october we booked this package, surprisingly had a very quiet table (this was Sunday Sept 30th) for 4:30...dinner was excellent, wine superb, it was relaxing, romantic, and got priority seating for Fantasmic! what a way to start our trip!!
