Hello....we are getting married in October 2004 and have decided, after much debate on the land/sea package. This was a very hard decision because I have been to Disney a zillion times and we got engaged there. Right infront of the castle at sunset...ahhh the memories. Anyway both of our parents are DVC members and we tend to go to Disney quite often, so we really wanted to do something special for our honeymoon. My fiance hates planes, so we decided on the 3 day land/4 day cruise; we were hesitate of the 7 day cruise because niether one of us has ever been on a cruise before. We added 4 days onto to the beginning of the trip and will spend it in the AKL. I am so excited about staying there. Because I have been to Disney so many times I have no problems with that part of the trip but the whole idea of going on a cruise is foregin to me. I have a few questions if anyone can assist me it would be great....First, was the romance package worth the $300? Second, we are scheduled to eat at the second setting, did you like eating with other people on your honeymoon or did you wish you were alone? ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I just went back and read the other postings about the Romance Package, and now I'm considering adding it to our reservation. I have a weird question though...we have two connecting rooms. The reservation shows that I am in one room with one of our kids and my husband is in the other room with the other one. In reality, my husband and I are in one room and the 19 & 16 year old are in the other. Can we add this package to a room even though it shows that there is an adult and a teen in it??? Or will that look kind of weird???

Here's my 2 cents for what its worth. First of all, you get the countdown on the forum called Technical Support. Go to the Technical support thread . There is a thread that says "get your countdown here". I can't tell you whether you'll think the REAS package is worth the $300 but I can tell you that we have chosen this package for our upcoming April cruise based on the fact that Palo ressie is done for you in advance as well as brunch and high tea if you like. You get a couples massage. You get a gift in the room with rose petals strewn about the room, and you get a champagne breakfast in bed. It sounds worth it to me. Also, we have been on 3 previous cruises. We didn't cruise on our honeymoon though. We always enjoyed eating with other people, but we always had interesting table mates. :bride: :groom: :chat: :happy1:

I don't think that would look weird- because technically you're paying for 2 adults in each room... you can't pay an adult price and child/teen price for each room... you're paying 2 adults per room. I'm sure they are used to people getting 2 connecting rooms and splitting up the adults (since an actual adult has to be in each room on paper atleast) in each room with children... we're doing the same thing and our children are very young- not even teens. Maybe you'd just need to make sure you tell them which room you want the pkg put on- so the kids don't end up with the special breakfast and such. LOL

Duh! I can't believe I didn't even think about the fact that we are paying for two adults per room! What can I say, I'm very new to all this cruising stuff! I will definitely make sure that whatever room gets the romance basket is the room that I am sleeping in!

Luv2Dream...thank you so much for your input...i am finding everyone's advice so helpful. I think we are going to definately do the package...everyone has such wonderful things to say about it. At this point I think we are looking more forward than the cruises portion of the trip than staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. :smooth:

Belle, I can understand totally. We are going to VWL for a week before the cruise and the cruise part of the trip is so much more exciting to me than the WDW part. And coincidentally, we are going back for one more night after the cruise to the AKL! I am excited about that night because we've never stayed at that Lodge before so it will also be something new.

Belle-

We did exactly exactly what you guys are doing for our HM...3 day land/4 sea and added 3 nights on to the land...and we stayed at AKL for those days! Do not worry about the cruise, you will love it! It was our first cruise as well and we wish we would have done the 7 night right off the bat! Not to say that we don't love the parks, but the cruise was amazing!

We were had late dinner, TAP rotation, and there were 4 other HM couples at our table and lots more HM couples seated around us. On our first night at dinner, the dining staff sings "Happy Honeymoon" to everyone and gives each couple thier own cake! We loved eating with other newleywed couples. It is only for a couple of hours in your day, and if you eat at Palo, you'll have a romantic night away as well. Plus, you guys will be on your own dining in the parks....you will probably enjoy sharing your wedding stories with other newly married couples by the time the cruise rolls around.

Now, my two cents on the Romance add on....we spent around $300 for cabana massages for the two of us on Castaway Cay. For the same price, you can each get a massage (granted, not a cabana massage...:D ), plus a little extra sparkling wine, chocolate and a gift, in addition to getting your Palo ressies taken care of. DO IT!!!!! We added it on for our upcoming cruise in Sept!

Now for your DH's fear of flying.....EMDR. Look into it. Good therapy for it (I speak from experience!::yes:: )

Thank you so much for your thoughts...it is so nice to hear that we will be eating with other honeymoon couples and not families with small children. I love children and understand it is Disney but there are times when I want to enjoy my meal, espeically when i hear such wonderful things about the food. After a day of reading what everyone has to say I have decided on two things. The first is this forum is addicting. The second is I think we will do the romance package. I would really like to eat at Palo's and the entire idea of the breakfast in bed and the massages is heavenly. I get all relaxed just thinking about the massage...

Another question for you...when you were on Nassau what excursions did you do? We are thinking of the dolphin encounter but we would also like to go to Altantis and look around there. We were thinking about doing the dolphin thing at Discovery Cove in Florida, but are not to sure of the difference between the two. There are so many options for so many different things it is amazing....

Hey, Belle.

We actually skipped any excursions in Nassau, as we had Freeport on our itinerary as well. Some other couples had done the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau, and they loved it so much, they booked a Dolphin swim in Freeport. (We did the Encounter in Freeport...We loved it!) So, although I cannot say from experience the Encounter in Nassau was good, the one in Freeport was. Just do some homework, (there is a wealth of info out there, most it found here!) I bet if you check out www.castawayclub.com you'll find some good info on excursions there. Barb has done 30+ DCL cruises, most of them being 3-4 nights.

As far as the kids go, you know they are there...its Disney! But I remember seeing only one child seated near us at dinner. Of course you'll see them at the shows and on excursions, but DCL caters to adults so well, you can forget they are there! We got a kick out of watching them meet the characters and dancing around at the deck party without a care in the world. It is contagious:hyper: , you'll find yourself bouncing to the beat! But, alas, it was our HM, and we quickly scooted off to Quiet Cove when we wanted some peace! You will enjoy it so much!
