ROLR? Just curious

Mine is Riviera. Looking in any direction from that resort does nothing for me. (Interior design great but I need more).

After a tower stay, Polynesian is a one & done. Took away my desire to try the longhouse. Will still visit but won’t stay over night.

Lastly Saratoga Springs. (Main section). The tree houses look fun and still on the someday list.

(Own OKW & BCV). Those take priority over anywhere else. But when do switch or choose an alternate, it is either at Wilderness Lodge (either one) or Jambo House as my immediate picks.

Right now I have no interest in CFW since there are no w/d in the units and I don't want to share a room with my kids. We've stayed at RIV and it was nice, but the point chart is too high. I own at VGF and love it, but RIV is worse and not worth it to me since you can't walk to any park from there. Poly is ok and I do like the split bathroom in the longhouses, but PIT is also too high in points.

Still need to stay at BLT and GFV so I have to wait to assess them.
Of the others, OKW is at my bottom because of the state of the rooms. We just stayed in a studio and it was seriously rough. A basic refurb is not the answer; room needs to be gutted and brought up to date. Electrical outlets sticking out, the door to outside had big gap around it. Just lots of structural fixes needed.

For me it would be 3 (maybe 4 that are really low on my list) and I will pick just about anything over them.
  1. BLT - studios are tiny, the vibe does not work for me, felt tight with only 2 people in it, terrible transportation experiences, and MK is my least favorite park so really don't need to be right next to it
  2. OKW - liked it well enough, but would prefer traditional studios with a bed and couch especially when traveling solo or with only 1 other person
  3. SSR - I own here and have never actually stay here. I guess I should someday. I did go to school in the real Saratoga Springs so I feel like I might like it for that.
  4. CFW - this girl does not camp! I have friends who have stayed and did enjoy it, but unless I rent a car, I am going to continue to pass. I don't want to deal with their buses. And a boat to MK (still my least favorite park) does not improve my thoughts much

BCV and Poly. Both are total clusters. Poorly run. We love SSR and OKW but the management has gone down in those places too. Both used to be fabulous (especially SSR) but last couple of years no thanks.

Mine are OKW and SSR and mayby CFW. OKW: too far, and I don't like the apartment complex-y feel. Would I say never for a resort heavy trip or one with a lot of family? no, but that's not my usual trip. Same with SSR, and my kids aren't yet old enough to want to go to Disney Springs, so we favor being close to a park.

CFW: so far away from everything and no w/d? No. I admit I was intrigued and might consider it for low points cost to sleep 6, but only if I were the grownup in the LR hosting 4 kids in the bedroom where I could shut the door on them. That might have been us 4-8 years ago but we don't stay in studios any more and my kids are big enough to just go to bed and be quiet, so maybe I'd try once for novelty but not more than that. (Also we never rent a car when we come to WDW, so parking doesn't matter to me.)

Oh wow - have dinner at Topolino's around sunset and everything inside the "C" shape (preferred view) is glorious. And looking in the other direction you have the Epcot ball and Epcot and MK fireworks. I agree, I don't use my resort view balcony for much other than drying swimsuits. But if we're in the room from 9-11pm it's a lot of cool fireworks.

Can you give an example of how the management has gone down at SSR and OKW, so that we can understand?
Over the last couple of years we have stayed at these properties at least 2x each and both times employees at check in and in the gift shops were dismissive and disheveled, obviously not having a great time (understatement ). In contrast we recently stayed at BLT where the employees were awesome. At SSR, we also had a door that did not open and had the face handing off of the mechanism. They sent someone who looked liked he was dragged off the street to fix it. You could tell he didn’t know what he was doing and DH ended up helping him. In the end it just needed a new battery and to be reassembled. It was broken before we even entered, which to me is another sign of people just not caring (not doing their job) because whoever cleaned the room must have realized the door lock was broken but he/ she just left it for the next guest to deal with it. The public restrooms also were not very clean at either location. I just got the general feeling that no one cared (no management). This is a real departure from how both resorts were a couple of years ago. We are kind of wondering if okw and SSR are the places where Disney promotes people to management they want to promote but don’t really deserve it. People working at all the pools are always lovely.

At Olivia’s our server had a bad attitude, did the absolute bare minimum, and I mean bare minimum, and when she gave us our check, she added gratuity (fine, party of six), but she did not point this out and we almost double tipped. I get that she may not have been “required” to point this out, but it’s sleezy. It’s not “Disney.” Good servers do point this out, and we do tip above the autograt. That’s not a flex, just saying.

It was interesting because on that same trip, the day before eating at Olivia’s, we had eaten at Sapphire Falls hotel at universal where our server was incredible and did point out the autograt. So Olivia’s stood out dramatically as sloppy in comparison. Sapphire falls was impeccable.

I few years ago, I would have said SSR. But we stayed there after seeing video tours of the renovated rooms and really enjoyed it (especially the location near Disney Springs). We've been back to SSR multiple times since.

I guess my least likely resort to stay at currently would be CFW.

P.S. Before I started reading the first post, my mind went to ROLR meaning "right of last refusal" (opposite of ROFR). 😂

OP - this is actually a very interesting thread as opinions are all over the place. It's interesting to see what appeals to one person and another will loathe the same resort. Like previously stated, it's a good thing there are many DVC resorts as so many people have different tastes.
