I got it on Saturday. Pretty interesting. The only problem I may be having is concession placements. Oh well! I've only tinkered with it a bit, but it's awesome! The Six Flags parks are definitely cool! Some of the new shops/stalls include ATM machine, First Aid Station, Cookie Shop, Soft-serve ice cream stand, Funnel Cake Shop, Pretzel Shop, etc. The categories are better separated. All the transportation rides are in their own group. I think I saw a new trolley car ride. Some of the new themes are Pirate and Mechanical. You can even have a Pirate entertainer. The game feels the same as the original in many ways, but you can do more with it. When you build a ride, it can be 'naked' or covered and surrounded by pre-set scenery. Kinda neat. There's also a Haunted Mansion ride and a Spinning Mouse coaster. I've only had a brief look, but I am liking what I see.

And for those in the know, it isn't supposed to be out yet. I was at Wal-mart earlier and saw one copy. 'What luck!' I thought. When I got to the register, the computer would not let me buy it. I was so bummed. We stopped off at a Wal-Mart competitor, who had ooodles of copies out. No problem at the register, cuz I got game.....:D

sounds great! We've already been through our older version a couple of times now, so when we get our 'gaming' computer back up and running, we'll be out there to buy the newer version. I love the idea of the prelandscaped rides, too.:bounce:

Cool!!!!! I was given a copy RCT1 - with the add-on packs a couple of months ago - what an addicting game! I've almost finished all the scenarios. What's you're favorite type of scenario? My favorite is doing delapidated parks, like Ivory Towers and Rotting Heights.

That is my sons favorite game.. he will spend HOURS on it.

He has designed some wonderful parks/coasters...

Heather.. how much was it?

Thanks!

even though I have mechanics assigned to my rides, they keep breaking down and crashing. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Ooohhhh! You are so LUCKY! I can't wait to get my copy on Tuesday!! :bounce:

Kidzmom3, how often are your mechanics checking your rides? I always set mine for every 10 minutes. Does this happen only on rides that you built or also on pre-fab rides? I've had this happen on rides that are somewhat risky in construction. For example, I like to extend the Shuttle Loop and increase the speed. Sometimes, if I don't have the track increased long enough, it will work for awhile, then crash. I've actually shot the train right off the end of the track!

Its also my daughter favorite game!!!! She plays it for hours. I hope somedy to also play it as i love roller coasters and theme parks!!

FUNNEL CAKES! It's got a Funnel Cake Shop! LOL! There's also a Curly Fries booth and a Sub Sandwich shop. The First-Aid station is for nauseated guests. It help them recover more quickly. Also, guests will stand and admire the more impressive rides. The opening menu categorizes the scenarios. Beginner, Challenge, Expert, Six Flags Parks, & Other Parks. You can build your own Six Flags Park.

It was $25 at Target, but we think it was supposed to be $29.95.

Anyway....sorry for the slow response. I was out of town yesterday.

Chuck S,
I also like fixing up parks. I often get carried away with landscaping and theming, too.

No way to avoid it.

The trick though is to assign a mechanic to the exit end of the ride and have him patrol that area. Downtime is next to nil that way.

Olena,

You are VERY lucky! I just came home from looking at Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Circuit City. No one here has it out yet. I asked the salesman at Circuit City (in the desperate hope that he would take pity on me and sell me one), but he said they are not allowed to sell them until tomorrow. He will lose his job if he gets one for me. :( I guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow. :(

Ok. I just bought RCT2 today. I was SO excited about this new game. Now I'm not so sure if I like it. Maybe its just me, but it seems to have a very different feel to it. I guess I just need to get used to it. I do like the new shops and rides. I can't figure out how to make a covered que like on some of the prefab rides. Anyone know?

So this is an entirely new game, and not just an expansion pack?

I love the original, even though I'm awful at it :) The one time I actually built a roller coaster that *worked*, it was too intense for anyone to ride. They need to make RCT for Dummies ;)

Poly Princess,

It's all new...not an expansion pack. As for coaster building, I'm hopeless at it. Mine are always too intense. Oh well. There's more to the game than that, so it keeps me coming back....:D

Ok. I missed this thread due to being on holidays.

I need to know what this new one is called again.

We did look for it while we were over in Alaska, but could only find the old ones & the Gold Pack.

Can someone help me out here with the name of this new one please....................:Pinkbounc :bounce:

The name is simply "RollerCoaster Tycoon 2." It was not available for sale until this past Tuesday, October 15th (except in those cases where the retailers broke the rules). You can probably find it now in many places on the internet. Go to the http://www.rollercoastertycoon.com website and you can click on a link for online retailers.
