Hi Everyone--

So far, this board has been indispensable in helping me decide to apply for the DCP. (Thank you for that! :) ) My phone interview is tomorrow and I just wanted some feedback with regard to my desired roles. I've heard it's best to be specific...

1.) Character Performer: Fawn (Tink's friend). I've seen that they are currently casting "look-a-likes" for the Pixie-hollow girls. (I do have a personal, "touching" story about wanting this role--should I mention that?)

2.) BBB hostess or FGMiT: I've worked at a high-end girl's clothing boutique for the last two years, though I have no formal salon experience. Is this one futile?

3.) ???

I really want to be engaged (i.e. in a truly immersive role) What would you suggest for my final choice? Haunted Mansion / PotC attendant? Could I work in the World showcase? Are there any shops with particularly "acted" roles?

Any ideas would be much appreciated! And I apologize for the profusion of questions!!!

First of all, good luck on your interview tomorrow! :thumbsup2

1) I would definitely include your story; anything that shows a level of personal connection to a role you're pursuing is a good thing, as long as it's not too long-winded or rambl-y.

2) I don't know a lot about BBB, but I have heard that it's difficult to get. But there's no reason not to mention that you would like to do it, or why you think you're qualified. There's nothing wrong with putting forward an idea.

3) I think a lot of the roles offer that kind of Guest-interaction that you're looking for. Attractions would definitely be a big one, and merchandising, too, keeps you in contact with the Guests. Unless you're on the ICP, you cannot necessarily work at the pavilions in the WS (with the exception of the US pavilion), but I know custodial can have positions there. And as undesirable as custodial sounds, it too is a high Guest interaction role. I would just go through the role checklist and see which of them sounds most exciting. Whatever you can see yourself doing for 4 or 7 months is a good choice.

Hope I helped in some way!

I definitely think asking for a really highly themed attraction would fit with you desire for an "immersive" role. The only place in the World showcase you could work would be in the America pavilion. They have an attraction/show, merch, and qsfb I believe. I can't think of any Merch locations with the type of immerse/acting aspect you are looking for. As for your example for Performer odds are they won't ask you for a specific example. They really just ask about previous theater/acting/dancing/entertainment experience and let you know about the audition. You might be able to find a way to mention it, but since you have to audition and be a certain height, I'm not sure how much if any difference your example would make. Can't hurt though. Your boutique experience will help I think. I know of more than one person who had no salon/hair experience who have gotten that role.

For world Showcase its CRPers only not even ICP can work world showcase , they have a special program just for people to work the world showcase.

I'd include your story for sure and Id reccommend attractions as your number 3 :)

Small correction for World Showcase, there are actually a few other ways to get placed there. Like everyone said, QSFB could put you in the American Adventure or Epcot custodial.

The other way is to get placed in WS Attractions where I was. The options there are the American Adventure show (but I don't think they place many if any at all there), Kim Possible, or the FriendShip boats. The first two would be under attractions but for CP purposes the FriendShips are under Transportation (it is weird and makes little sense to be attractions for everyone else but transportation for the Cp's, go figure).

If you are interested in something like the boats, it is an amazing role but keep in mind that you have a lot of safety requirements to keep in mind and it can be a bit stressful at first because you are actually operating the boats without any track.

The only other way I can think of would be merch, either in the towers gift shops of maybe the AA carts.

Thank you, everyone, for the advice! I can't wait for my interview tonight (I really have no idea how I'm going to sit through a three hour class on Buddhism and then listen to a lecture on Paradise Lost!!!) 9pm can't come fast enough...

I'll update with my perceived impression:wizard:

The Character Performer role is based on your audition. I believe they assign you a different role, and then if you nail the audition you're a performer instead. If you don't nail the audition, you keep the other role. But definitely mention it! I was a FGIT at BBB, still am actually :). I don't have hair experience, but I'm a certified make-up artist and I worked with kids a lot at Build A Bear Workshop. That's super important. The hairstyles are not that difficult, so personality is the big thing. It's a totally immersive role! You're a fairy godmother in training! Go for it :)

When I was in college and went to my intervie (it was on the phone it wasa in person) I mentioned I wanted to dress up as a character. I was sent to an audition which was pretty tough. You def. have to have a dance background. They taught you short number and made cuts as it went on...I made it thru about 2 hours, a friend I went with made it thru about 3 hours. Not sure how much longer it was and if you made the cut I still think there was more to the process. I didnt understand this becuase I wasn't looking to be a face character and dance around. I just wanted to be Mickey (or whatever) and walk around taking pic.

Not sure how things are now as this was 10 years ago.

Hey! I applied for BBB and didnt get it. I did get my 3rd choice which was attractions! Another immersive role could be maybe GMR. That is like acting. Its considered a speil ride. Any of those would be good too!

If you want to see some of the types of questions they might ask you about BBB or attractions, check out myy blog. I have a page on the right hand side that is a link to my interview questions and some tips! hopefully it will help! http://alyssasdreamcometrue.blogspot.com/

Goodluck and stay positive! let us knowhow it goes!:yay:

Thank you for the additional encouragement, everyone--Alyssa, your blog was a great help!

Interview Update!!!

Just got off the phone--it seemed to go well:

She asked about my current and past work experience; tasks included, favorite aspects, ect.

Then to roles...I poured my heart out about wanting to be cast as Fawn (Tink's friend)--signed up for audition; then regarding the BBB, I noted that I often help young girls dress for fancy occasions in my current job.

Since she didn't ask for a third choice, I mentioned the Haunted Mansion and PotC (both of which she noted).

Got my fingers crossed!!!
