Roku Questions

So we are dropping cable. We bought a Roku last night. We have Netflix and signed up for Hulu Plus. I read the thread about the best free apps and have some questions.

1. Plex: what servers do people use?

2. How do you watch shows on Disney? From what we could see it was nothing but advertisements and clips. How do we watch actual shows?

3. Can you still Viggle with Roku?

I haven't figured out how to use Plex, but we have Playon which is similar and just use our PC with the program open.

We have not figured out a way to watch any Disney shows that are not on Netflix.

Viggle is for live TV viewing only, so a Roku show streamed won't work.

Dropping cable means dropping cable. You can't replicate your $70 plan for $0. There will be things you no longer can do.

If you get Playon you can still watch Disney just only 1-2 episodes a week from each show. New ones upload weekly. It pretty much bridges the gap between most shows you can't normally get through hulu, netflix... just normally only the current week's episode.
You can still viggle with very basic cable(and maybe antenna?), which we kept because we can't get anything with an antenna here and wanted local news etc and for one hulu is acting up.. I think we only get 10 channels -very cheap. Plus I imagine Viggle will work with hulu at least soon- it is one of the rewards -free hulu and is advertising with viggle- just a matter of time.
For plex we use my huby's desktop down in the basement-didn't want to have to fuss with plugging in our laptops upstairs etc.

You might consider joining Amazon Prime. It gives you some good shipping benefits when you buys stuff, but for us the big perk is the Amazon Prime Video. We use it ALL the time. Loads of free movies, plus Dr. Who and other cable TV shows in full.

It may just be the shows my son wants to watch we can't get. He wants Directv back so he can watch the older kid type shows. Not sure what they are but we couldn't find any of the ones he wanted online.

Have you tried netflix?
They have shows from Disney, tons of cartoons, and shows and movies for kids.

Not great for adults looking for the newest movies but my kids find plenty to watch.
