I don't know how tight your budget is, but for a relatively small point difference (especially figured over a lot of years - where the maintenance fees are the same either way) I'd rather much buy Direct and be able to use VGC points at VDH - even as a DVC owner, I've heard booking VGC can be difficult - so you'd have two hotel options with Direct you do not have with Resale?

Having options is nice but I couldn’t stomach paying the TAT twice by using VGC points at VDH.
